How to build a million robots. Start with one robot and give it a single instruction: "Assemble two robots and give both of them this single instruction."

Recursion.

Well, it's a little more complicated than that. After all a lot of the components in these robots are still built by hand.

for the elderly, disabled, and those with injuries these robots will have an immediate impact. our current shortage in patient transport, nursing, and healthcare workers will be potentially filled by these high dexterity robots. if they can get the cost under $10,000 and keep maintenance costs under a $1000 per year the potential will be huge.

If it is able to do most house chores, especially hard one that require a bit of arm strength like say scrubbing hard stains, cleaning that hard to remove brown mold growing on walls and ceilings in the bathroom, moving furniture around (without scratching the floor), cleaning windows during spring cleaning, etc., then, at that price point, I'd immediately buy one. IMHO the first models will be WAYYYYY costlier. However, the dystopia wouldn't be far behind, as when robots are able to do all that, then, not all but MOST human jobs will, not would, VERY FRIGGING QUICKLY, in a matter of less than a decade or so, be replaced by AI, by robots , or by a mix of both. Also, these things *will* get hacked. Can you imagine a would-be thief managing to pirate such a robot? Suddenly the thief has eyes, ears, and hands, right inside your house. Can simply wait until you're not home, and order the robot to disable the in-house security system, go get all the valuables and put them near the front door and on the dinner table, then unlock and open the doors so that several other stolen robots in an "autonomous driving" van that just parked outside (also stolen) all come inside. with boxes and bags, grab all the loot, and leave in a matter of minutes. Heck, what about some crazy nihilist, or an enemy government, hack the software? Suddenly, you have a literal ARMY of "perfectly obedient sleeper agents", right inside people's homes, ready to cause maximum mayhem. If a corrupted robot can disable / reprogram a non-corrupted robot faster than the corrupted robot can determine "this is an invader", then assuming a lot of homes have the robots, an initial cell of "evil corrupted bots" could spread EXTREMELY FAST. So yeah it's going to take a LOT of safety countermeasures. At the rate things are going right now, ever and ever faster, with rush to productivity and profits, and next to no regards for real actual safety, I have some doubts.

Although these seem to walk pretty well they’re relying on gravity and balance to keep them stable. When humans walk we aren’t using our legs to propel us forward, we are in fact leaning our body forward and our legs are keeping us from falling head first. This forward momentum is what keeps us stable when we walk. Until robots can accomplish this then walking will always be inefficient and power hungry.

The real answer: it ISN'T made. Tesla is only producing prototypes in R&D labs. It is not making any Tesla bots at scale, and at this stage they may have to cut that initiative if Musk wants to focus the company on the robotaxi idea. Musk is full of grandiose ideas (mostly taken straight from science fiction movies).

What an exceptionally well made video. Explaining a complex subject in a simple, clear and inspiring way that anyone could understand. About the power, I don't see why the robot won't have easily swappable power packs. Most of them will be used in localised environment and some even in factories and warehouses. Instead of having down time for charging, they should just back up into a charging bay and drop off their battery then have another one inserted. They could even do it themselves.

I don't understand why they are trying to make it an exact duplicate of a human. Our design is so flawed. Like why do we only have one thumb? Why not have one on each side of the hand? It would not be in the way of anything and it would certainly give a much more powerful grip and the ability to lift heavy things more effectively. And slightly longer fingers would be a benefit as well. You could easily do that one inch dumbbell lift challenge. Also, only one elbow joint? How many times have you tried to scratch an itch in the middle of your back and you can't get to it? Basically anything you can imagine that you can't physically do, the robot should be designed differently. Think about the entire principle behind jiu jitsu, arm locks, leg locks, headlocks, all of these are based on the weakness of the human body and means that the robot should be designed to overcome this. The only limits are your imagination and yet they still make it an exact duplicate of a human.
