How to make a router table. In this DIY woodworking project, I make the router cabinet with a router table top and organization drawers for router bits, router table accessories and more! This router table is great for tool organization. I built this router cabinet to be mobile so it can easily roll around in the shop. Thanks for your honesty about fear preventing you from starting your project. As a complete woodworking novice, I can relate. With each project though I am getting more comfortable with the tools I inherited from my father in law after his passing. My router table isn’t nearly as complex or nice as your finished project but it works for my needs, and I love that satisfaction that comes from building it yourself. Without UKposts U, I wouldn’t know where to start. Much appreciation for taking the time to post your instructive videos.

That is awesome Matt I can appreciate how much work goes into this not only are you building but your filming. My old boss use to say it's OK to make mistakes as long as you learn from it and can fix it otherwise it's a wasted mistake. I would never know you cut that short looking at the final product. Fantastic job 😁👍

Nice job Matt! The 'design change' on the back trim looks great, we all have design changes in our projects. I'm addressing one of my fears this weekend. I have my first end grain cutting board in clamps! I was going to hold off making one until I got a drum sander (excuse to buy a new tool???) but decided to give it a try. God bless you my brother.

Thankyou for keeping your "big dummy" moments in your videos. Makes me feel better about mine. Thankyou also for admitting that you feared building that table, fear keeps me from eventually being a better me as well, but I'm constantly working on it. It really helps when I see an accomplished, woodworker/youtuber/Maker like you, admit that you STILL have it. Love the content, please keep them coming and God bless you and yours. Can't wait to build this table! Ps. Love that you build in a small space too. I too work in a small shop. I have about half the space you do and have to take most of my tools outside to cut and sand to keep shop/laundry room, pantry free from dust. It's sometimes frustrating, but doable.

I know you've gotten a gazillion comments on what to do to keep your pieces together for a moment while you walk away to get something, or reposition yourself for a better grip or better angle of attack. If you quickset a couple of screws, not tight even just the 1st thread or 2. But, thanks for illustrating how things don't or sometimes wont go right, especially if you're in a hurry, cause is your side hustle and you ain't do'n it full time yet. Love y'all's videos and the encouragement. So many of us need it, some people go without any.

Hi Matt, thanks so much for posting this, I've been looking forward to it since you posted the preview last week as I'm about to make something similar myself. I really appreciate you leaving in your error as I experienced exactly the same thing on a different project today (I was much less restrained with my language than you were and called it a day at that point!). It's reassuring to know that mistakes like that happen to everyone. I've also noticed you mention the fear of failure in woodowrk a few times and it's something that I suffer from massively so I really appreciate the encouragement and the honesty from your channel. Incidentally, I have a similar router plate (the basic Kreg one) and they recommend placing the plate on the table top and adding some offcuts to frame the outside of the plate, then removing and using the frame and a template bit to cut a precise outline of the router plate. Thanks for the great content.

This is one of the coolest DIY Router tables on UKposts. I've seen a bigger one, but it was for a different shop, the builder specifically wanted it to be 42" or 44" so as to do double duty as an extension of the Miter Saw table area. That Amber makes it look like a desk from Jr. High Wood Shop.! That's why you subconsciously don't like it.😎

Really nice router table and I like the honesty to show the mistakes and how to rectify them. A lesser woodworker would have just created a new top off camera and make it look like there was no error. Doing this helps way more then the finest details of a build. The real learning comes when we need to correct our errors. If you don't try you will never succeed

I actually build my shop pieces with a flush back (no over hang) so they will fit up against the wall when not in use. But great recovery in using trim to stand in the gap. And hey - ‘mistakes’ happen on each build - it shows that you’re human and gives an opportunity to problem solve to have ‘added features’ in the end! 😊 Good change on the lacquer- I personally don’t care for that deep yellowing effect either - a cream or French vanilla color is my favorite. Great idea about using clamps to reduce movement when seating the pocket hole screws - I discover this by accident when I didn’t have enough hand strength to pull both pieces of wood together just by the screws. Clamp first and things go SO much better. The one area that I struggle with is dust collection on the underside. I have the dust collection attachments from Bosh, but I still have saw dust flying everywhere. Looking forward to any solutions you might come up with. Great video Matt. LOVE the production, camera work and editing. Good solid stuff here Matt. Nicely done!

Nice build! I built the "New Yankee" version years ago. I put laminate on my router table top. My desk I built I out of laminated mdf. I couldn't find any laminate for it at the time so It was coated with shellac, sanded and then spray painted black from a can, then finished with spray urethane. It come out perfect. I was surprised at how well and evenly coated the paint turned out. After 15+ years the desk top is holding up very well.

@@lobbi5000 I'll look and see if I can find the pics. I didn't take a video. I would take new ones but my desk is currently a mess lol. I take my work home alot The top was trimmed out with some 1/2" thick white oak similar to Matts router table. I didn't trim the back.

I really like the design. Thanks for the very entertaining video production. I guess it dates me, but I like that 1980s yellow. 😁

Amazing build brother! I'll likely end up buying your plans once I get me a decent corded router. For now, I'll stick with my trim router. Keep up the great work and as always I appreciate your love for Christ.

Watch your sales. Black Friday can be your friend. I was looking for a sliding compound miter saw, found it 20% off at Lowes. Also, sales guy told me closeouts and end-of-year sales can be good times to buy.

With your minor error, you gave your work character. Not a mistake. Also we are allowed to make mistakes one at a time. Great work I love the router table. 👍👍👍👍👍
