Building a Shed doesn’t have to be a complicated thing. With shed prices being up, it makes sense to build your own wood shed so you can store all sorts of tools and yard equipment. In this video we start framing the Modern Shed under my kids playhouse before it gets moved to its permanent home and given a wild twist.

@@KomarProject Do NOT get one of those wimpy Porter-Cable or other brand mini-palm nailers. You want one with some heft to it because the mass is part of what makes them work well. I have a Senco PC0781 that weighs about 2 1/2 pounds. The little mini-palm nailers probably don't even weigh much more than a pound and that weight really makes a difference. The little ones make a lot more hits on the nail and vibrate the crap out of your hand. The heavy ones will drive a 3" Tico nail in maybe 3 hits.

I was almost disappointed, thought you left out the footage of the door almost making you into a lawn decoration, but there it was at the end. I gotta say, and hope I don't let a little secret slip, but with all that lumber, aren't you glad you built it when you did?
@KomarProject
@KomarProject 2 роки тому
Lol I’m so glad lol. But it seams like the prices are coming down. $6 for a 2x4 now. Way better then the $10
@FallenOutlander
@FallenOutlander 2 роки тому
@@KomarProject it's about time. I switched my lumber supplier to the local Amish mills, they didn't reflect their prices like other places. I stopped any projects that required sheet goods.

Komar Project thanks for the video. I love watching construction videos to give me ideas. Why did you need to put a roof on the "shed" when there was a floor already above it? In other words if you made the walls all the way from the floor to the floor above there would be no need for a "roof" that is already covered?

This would be illegal in Canada. You could legally put tarps up as walls and stick whatever you want there, but you cant convert the bottom into an actual shed without getting a permit unless you stay under 100sq foot.... None the less, great project. Came out awesome
@warrenmusselman9173
@warrenmusselman9173 2 роки тому
Square footage limits vary by jurisdiction down here in the States. Where I am I can go up to 160 sq ft without a permit. In a nearby town the limit is 120 sq ft. One limit in pretty much all jurisdictions for non-permitted shed is no permanent foundation and it has to be setback from the property lines by a certain amount - which again varies by jurisdiction. In my rural area that means 25' back from the line. In some built up suburban areas it may be 1' or even on the line if there is a legal survey showing the exact location of the line.
@matt59fire
@matt59fire Рік тому
In the US, you dont need a permit on your own land and if youre the owner. But in some places like in city limits, you need an inspector to come out and pass inspection

Bart, that thing is sweet! Your shed gave me an idea that I wonder if it would work. I recently got a travel trailer and my entrance steps fold out of the door, the top is flush with my floor then down to the ground rather than pull out from under the chassis. What if your lawnmower ramp did that and then would act as a ramp for ease of in and out with material or stuff but folded up into the door opening and the doors shut and hid it away?
@KomarProject
@KomarProject 2 роки тому
That’s a great idea!!! I actually might do that. I’m changing the doors to metal sliding doors so not sure if it will work but I will brainstorm cuz I think it’s a cool idea
