Jacob Geller has a documentary on this exact scenario (Treating students as inmates), I would have hoped that school systems could behave in a mature fashion, but they squander their budget and enforce arbitrary laws like children. To think I grew up in a system just as that, and have surpassed them developmentally.

It's literally so weird. Like, there are no such restrictions at colleges (as far as I know) and you can leave whenever without even asking, so why the hell would it be required to LOCK bathrooms in a goddamn school? I get they want kids to watch the classes but that's uncalled for

It's just another great way for schools to waste tax payers money. Yet they still claim they need more. I worked as a Clerk in charge of placing orders given to me using tax payers money for the school district in my area. The shit these districts request and approve of are outrageous. It's like they buy things BECAUSE they have a surplus of money, then petition for higher taxing so they get more money to waste.

Do it here?" and just got up and went out to the bathroom I will say that she isn't a bad teacher nor a bad person, but sometimes they can be so stubborn and close minded for no reason... Like, I'm a human being and I even asked politely I talked to her about it afterwards and we got it sort out but like, man... those gates are brutal, I would literally piss in those teachers' room or prinicipal's office if I had to, just to get the point clear

I've heard about this happening, and usually there will be some bathrooms that are unlocked. the smaller number of bathrooms are easier to monitor. the point is to reduce the amount space that kids can be in unobserved. it's a clumsy solution to drug and violence problems, since the bathrooms during class periods are disproportionately the place and time that stuff tends to occur.

It really sucks that you had to end up in the ER for them to do something about it. Something like that could have caused permanent damage that you'd have to live with for the rest of your life. That can lead to an impacted colon which can be very serious.

That's the first time i see a school with that auto-gates at toilet/WC in our country, they are free to go to toilets, but just for once in every class.. so when for example math class alredy end, n continue with history or other class, you can go toilet again..

The younger generation got the short stick. Terrible parents, terrible society, bullying, being exposed to adult things at a young age, TikTok, being raised on the internet, no room for imagination, being treated like inmates in their schools, etc. Even if these poor kids nowadays were allowed to be kids and have their own personalities without someone telling them they can't, they wouldn't know how to at this point.

The rate at which teachers abuse and torture students in ways like this (among other ways) leaves me weary of any person who proudly tells me they're a teacher.

But the trachers were not happy, saying thay they would be responsible if we got hurt and that we had time during the break. But they were not allowed to forbid it. Honestly if the kids do decide to abuse it it's on them. You can't control their actions at all times, especially not without consequences for the good children. All you can do is tell the kids what to do, why they should do it, and punish them when possible to reinforce the point. If they still try to abuse it, well, they'll face the consequences later on. Such is life. Just do your best to get the point across and hope that's enough. No need to be excessive because even if you are they will still find ways to abuse it and it might even make it worse.

I have the same thing. People can get up and leave, and generally speaking one kid is let out at a time. That's sort of an unspoken rule though, and I'm sure if people left while another was in the bathroom, it'd be fine

For my last two years at high school, the restrooms were kept locked at all times, and anyone wanting to use them (or be in the hallway at all during class) had to be escorted by an administrator. Admin never started a reason.

I had a principal at my school who ACTUALLY CARED about the INDIVIDUAL students wellbeing. Like this man went out of his way to buy me, a random kid a soccer ball. Sadly he left that school (though from what I've heard he's gotten pretty high up the system in the school board) and we were left with the average principal Who does the bare minimum work.

I don’t know if that guy ever got his money or not, But the level of pissed off he looked I’m thinking the Gold Coast probably didn’t have to pay anything out that night. but that’s what happens when these fucking casinos basically every time somebody wins are told that the machine malfunctioned, ESPECIALLY at the Native American casinos places if they even have an inkling that you’re winning at anything will throw you out. if you’re lucky you don’t get an ass beating. Smart thing to do is say you win $5000 intentionally lose $3800 of it back that way you don’t have to file any kind of tax reports and they leave you alone. In fact my wife just reminded me she went to a casino with her ex-boyfriend a guy she dated before she met me and he hit $3000 on a slot machine this was a tribal casino in Arizona. Well every time he went up to the counter to turn in the slip they had an excuse to not give him the money the machine was down, they had to get the tax forms from the office they were out of them at the payout counter etc. then he started noticing the security around him (my wife said he always was a bit paranoid and in retrospect there was nothing exceptional about the amount of security around the place and they weren’t particularly focused on him or her but at the time it just seemed that way) so he walked up to the counter tore up the paper slip and said “please let us leave“ my wife said she’s never been so afraid in her life they quickly made their way out to the car and were backing out when they saw a guy in a suit running towards them waving and yelling well he just floored it and they got out of there. it was later on when they were having a drink to calm their nerves they realize that the guy was waving a bunch of papers and yelling something along the lines of “Wait Sir wait your money.” It was only after the adrenaline had worn off and they were able to think a little more clearheaded that they pieced things together. but he looked at her and said “look we only really lost five dollars I can live with that no way I’m fucking going back there.“. I just wonder if some of the casino workers maybe didn’t get into trouble because my wife said the way they were coming across was hostile maybe they were having a bad night at work or something who knows but I’ve heard a few other stories from people that supposedly had won money and for whatever bullshit reason have walked out with nothing I know they weren’t cheats. If the people in this country would take a break from gambling for one week to send a message I think the message would be heard loud and clear, start playing fair or piss off there’s a difference between rigging the system so that you were going to win the majority of the time and doing everything but sticking a gun in their face and robbing them and that’s the level that some of these casinos are at but no matter what the reputation your addicts will always go there just thinking they’re going to score
