Also Sapkowski's Elvish is not really a full language, more like a superficially smoothed conglomerate of words from various languages. Sans Skeleton, Irish and Scottish are formally classified as distinct languages and are not immediately mutually intelligible.

Now, my old Gran from the hills of West Cork had told me about that, saying it was a very old custom even when she was young, but I certainly never expected to discover that modern Irish girls were still using it in the late 20th century! cornwall is not in england. it is an english colony. england's oldest colony, if you must know, followed by wales, isle of man, ireland, then scotland. then t he rest of the world. so, you see, it was an english,not british, empire.
