even swearing in irish is beautiful lol its not a coincidence that tolkien and Andrzej Sapkowski choose it as basis of elvish

@DimmVargr
@DimmVargr 6 років тому
Tolkien used either Irish or Scottish for Sindarin (not just any Elvish), Sapkowski used Welsh for his Elder Speech, although there are visible influences from Gaelic as well (and not only). Also Sapkowski's Elvish is not really a full language, more like a superficially smoothed conglomerate of words from various languages. Sans Skeleton, Irish and Scottish are formally classified as distinct languages and are not immediately mutually intelligible.

I heard Welsh and Finnish we're the base of elvish

Tolkien actually was inspired by the sounds of Welsh and Finnish to make his Elvish languages. Tolkien actually had a rather negative opinion of the Goidelic languages.

As someone who used to live in Ireland (mostly Tipperary and Cork, although I also visited almost every single county at one time or another) it gladdened my heart to see people taking the time to learn our beautiful and very lyrical language...even the "naughty bits!" 😂 Keep up the great work, young lady! (Dia an obair mhaith a shábháil!) 😋

And it's also a very romantic language although people may not see it as they do the Italian and the Spanish but Irish gaming is a beautiful language.

@@jimmymcdaniel1694 Right y'are, Jimmy! To my ears, "ta grath agam ort" has a far sweeter ring than its equivalent in almost any other European tongue. I mean, how is "Ich liebe dich," supposed to sound sexy, for crying out loud?🤣 No matter how long I live, I'll never forget the first time an Irish girl literally "sweettalked" me; much to my surprise, she'd popped a couple of cloves in her mouth to make her breath that much sweeter and more alluring. Now, my old Gran from the hills of West Cork had told me about that, saying it was a very old custom even when she was young, but I certainly never expected to discover that modern Irish girls were still using it in the late 20th century! In my opinion, Canadian women only surpass our lovely Irish girls in one way, and that's in knowing how to keep their fella nice and warm at night!😉

I've barely gotten halfway through the video and had to stop. I was trying not to laugh out loudly, so my family wouldn't think I was crazy. I have tears running down my face and can't stop giggling like a total lunatic. It's not just what's coming from such a sweet looking young lady. It's also the matter-of-fact way she's saying the NASTIEST of things, like a schoolteacher to her class. Priceless!

Big thumbs up from me Clisare, and I totally agree. As someone who has learned a few different languages, I can say that unless you learn curse/ swear and slang words, you will be missing out on a lot. Funny story, we had some Japanese students at my school and the first thing they wanted to know was english slang words, ha ha ha. Good luck and keep up the good work (please read that in Irish since I am not fluent in it, ha ha).

What. The. bloody. hell. I thought Irish was just British English with a heavy dialect. And here is this girl. M'lady Clisare who seem to be speaking Sims 3 language. I recently sparked an interest in in my family tree, Turns out that, on my motheres side of the family. Her grandmother was british while her grandfather was Irish, His name was Keith Joseph. Doesn't sound Irish to me, but i know little of anything about Ireland. hahahaha. Irish sounds awesome.

lightningvolt127 Scots Gaelic is a different language that is descended from Irish. They are close enough that if you understand one you will mostly understand the other, but they are still different.
