How to Eurovision Italy 🇮🇹

2 роки томуItaly is a country to be reckoned with in Eurovision. In addition to their latest victory with the rock band Måneskin, they can stand proud with two more victories by Gigliola Cinquetti with the song Non ho l'età in 1964 and Toto Cutugno and the song "Insieme: 1992”, 1990.
The Italian success story has been very stable since their comeback in 2011. From then Italy has managed to get in the top 10, eight times.
They also have a history of sending artists who already have a successful career in Italy. A lot of them came directly from the famous Festival Di San Remo.

They would win almost every year... The fact is, singers from other countries (especially those singing in their native language) are unknown elsewhere and Eurovision can bè important for their carreer, singers from the "anglosphere" can easily get known worldwide if they are talented and dont need eurovision. When they reach the top they kind of "snob" competitions

@@JenLaRock I disagree. Although the UK has the (second?) largest musical industry worldwide, I don't think their biggest stars would take part of ESC because it wouldn't be profitable. Also, Eurovision is unpredictable: there's no formula for winning (Swedes think they have) and the last winners had different songs, with different messages and genres

@@petersonflr I'm new to Eurovision, just wondering in U.K history in this, had they try to do it this way before and got burned for it? I been hearing on why the UK big artists don't want to do it, but I doubt that if Adele or Ed Sheeran want to represent the UK next year that they would end up with 0 points nor be profitable for doing it. In Adele case since she hadn't did anything new in a while it a great way to promote herself by announcing that she got a new album coming out in 2022, and the new single will represent the UK at the next year ESC. You don't think it will cause a buzz ?

Yes, bc every participant is the winner (or at least has participated) of the Festival Di Sanremo, that is the festival of the Italian song, so everyone sings in Italian

My sister, who is not a Eurovision fan, is still listening to Måneskin songs from day to night. The best thing about this year's victory is that the winners are getting worldwide recognition, finally showing to the world that Eurovision is more than over-emotional ballads, joke songs and manufactured pop from 10 years ago. Hopefully there will be a significant change to the contest next year.

worldwide recognition? Are you dreaming? Maneskin is just an exception. Even Mahmood had a good visibility with soldi but right after the international promotion stopped because he did not sign with an international manager.

This has been a very strong year, not only are Måneskin reaping the rewards, Iceland's band have been selling out at numerous venues around the world for their 2022 tour, Barbara Pravi has also received good reception for many of her venues in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, (and she got to perform her song at Roland Garros), and Go_A have found their song on a couple charts across Europe. Here's to next year's Eurovision hopefully being as strong as this year!

@@faiththomas1749 i imagine. I was saying that they're finally getting a global visibility because they have signed with an international management. They couldn't have done this with an italian management because the majors are in the hands of anglo/americans who use protectionism as a weapon to control the international music markets. They rarely allow international non anglo/american music to become globally mainstreamed and when they do it is because they earn out of it like in the case of Maneskin, Bts or Maluma...

@@CosiRose4 The vibe around 2019 was that Arcade is the obvious winner ever since it was released. Personally, Arcade remains on of my favorite songs of all time. However, Soldi and a good number of other entries were also deserving winners too which made that year a really good edition of Eurovision.

Italy were robbed in 2015 and 2017 In 2015 they were the televoters winners but corrupt juries gave the victory to an overrated copy song of sweden. They know that mans zemerlow stole victory and for some hidden reason they invite him every year in grand final as a guest , 2016 (ok because he 'won' in 2015, but why AGAIN in 2019, 2020 (ESL), 2021 !

Since our return, we have come back to chose our entry thanks to Festival di Sanremo, our main music contest. But Sanremo it's not our final selection, Sanremo is just Sanremo. It has its own story and its own logic. It strictly belongs to Italian culture. Italian singers primarily take part to Sanremo to promote their music all over the Country, not in hope of winning and taking part to Eurovision. Maybe that's the paradoxical trick. We don't write songs for Eurovision, we just send something which is usually very popular in Italy at that moment. We just tell you "Hello, this is Italy". And we do all this with almost zero knowledge of the Eurovision logic LOL

That's why I love Italy in Eurovision. They always make their best, and it shows they respect both the ESC and the audience. Their hiatus also shows us Italy prefers to not take part in the competition than sending joke acts (like Germany did this year)

I think it depends by the generation. I grew up without even knowing about eurovision because Italy wasn't in it. I first heard about it in 2014 because everyone was talking about it in Germany where I was studying. Now everyone knows it and fans are more.every year

I didn't think it was a joke entry, I personally would have ranked it better. It's far worse in 2022, when you denied the selections to Eskimo Callboys and then selected an anonymous, generic ballad

What about Sweden? I mean the worst result of Sweden in the last 10 years was the 14th place in this year. Italy is so stable in the last years and Ukraine has the potential to be the new dominant country of Eurovision.

This is my opinion. I'd say 2015 Italy deserved to win and it's my winner of that year. Every year their song is great, unlike Sweden, they just send samey, catchy pop songs. I'm not talking about official results here.
