Actually it is fun indeed to make something without welding machine...It taught me how to become more patients, and doing things more accurate and detail. I have welding machine myself, but sometimes I enjoyed not using it while making something......try it

I make similar Hacksaw for foamed concrete brick cutting , but in my construction, crank mechanism don't use. Scotch yoke mechanism more preferable in this case. You can get ride of dead point of the crank and do not overload electrical motor.

Dear your mechanism is good but how the blade can move up and down, there is nothing to hold the frame load while cutting the stock.
