Sump pumps suck for that very reason. It fails and so does all your gear stored in your basement. Your alarm is a great idea if someone is near enough to hear it. Away at work..you're f*cked. No more basements for me

The best thing to do is put them on a timer that runs them for a few minutes a week so rhe bearings stay free. Most failures are due to rusted bearings that have not been broken free in months.

When mixing them together in a one match head powdered and half that in red phosphorous with a tiny drop of water to make a paste. But in its powder form it is highly susceptible to shock forces and will explode/ignite. These are great for a rocket motor starter, fireworks, dynamite, or whatever needs fire to ignite its fuse or combustible material. Handle it carefully when a powder. If you strike it with a hammer it explodes.

Yea. i have a small battery operated pull type loud (120db) alert alarm. Basically with a wire or fishing line would work. Only way to shut sound off is to reinsert plastic pin or remove battery.
