1) I know a way to make a simple frying pan with a non-stick coating. Tested, works 100 percent.
If you have old frying pans, then you probably know that they are indestructible. They fry and steam for decades. But over the years, carbon deposits stick to them and you have to thoroughly clean them, as food begins to stick to the bottom.
I have my mother's frying pan that I sand fried last year. I poured sand to the top and put it on low heat for about three hours, then I cleaned off all the fumes with a knife. But when I started frying the potatoes, they immediately stuck to the pan. I soaked it and barely washed it, then I put it away.
Now I have learned a great way to make sure that food does not burn, but slides along the bottom, just like in modern non-stick frying pans. Cleaning takes place in two stages.
I needed:
- 2 tablespoons salt
- Half a glass of water
- I stirred the solution and poured it into a frying pan and put it on high heat. The water began to boil and evaporate, as soon as there was almost no water left, the fire was turned down to a minimum.
- At the same time, the salt returned to its dry original state. I spread the salt with a spoon and heated the pan for another two minutes.
- I let it cool a little and washed it under the tap.
- Now I put the frying pan back on high heat and poured in vegetable oil so that it covers the bottom well. Use a spoon to pour it onto the side. As soon as the oil warmed up and smoke appeared, I turned down the heat and heated the oil for another 15 minutes.
- All is ready! All that remains is to wash the slightly cooled pan with any dishwashing liquid. Inevitably, carbon deposits began to form immediately, but at these pores it is easily cleaned with a metal mesh.
I immediately tried it and fried cutlets in it. They slid on and didn't stick, just lovely.
In theory, this method works with any frying pan; I have a couple in the barn that I rejected because everything started sticking to them. I'll go take it out and clean it.
2) I took out an old frying pan from the far corner and cut the remains of the curtains. I'll show you how I used this stuff wisely in my kitchen.
I have long noticed that few people throw out old pots and pans. The main problem with the pan is that it is leaky, and the frying pan gets carbon deposits over time. Moreover, coatings now have an expiration date; if products begin to stick to the surface, nothing can be done, be it clean or not.
I keep them in the barn on the top shelf, and over time they go around the house. Either I’ll make a flowerpot from a saucepan, or a clock from a frying pan.
If you remove all the protruding parts in the pan, you will get a metal bowl from which you can make a bread box.
You can even come up with different models. For example, refine the metal and make a lid. You will get a container in which sliced bread or cookies will be stored.
I will have a larger bread box with a fabric top.
A material with a water-repellent effect is perfect here. I have pieces of Dusk fabric left over from sewing curtains. This is a dirt-repellent fabric with Teflon impregnation. Just perfect for the bread box.
I boiled the frying pan with soda so that all the fat disappeared, rubbed the carbon deposits, I couldn’t do anything else, the main thing was that it was clean.
The plan is:
- I cut out a circle of fabric larger than the bottom itself and glued it on the outside. I used PVA glue.
- I cut out another circle larger; it should cover the frying pan inside and curl outward.
- The bread box will be covered with a cover. To do this, I measured the circumference of the pan with a measuring tape and cut out a rectangle.
- I stitched the seam and overcast it. The top edge of the cover was folded and stitched.
- For the ties, I cut out drawstring strips of fabric 5 cm wide. I stitched them just below the edge. There are open spaces on the sides for the cord.
- I put the cover on the frying pan and glued it with hot glue.
- I used cotton rope for decoration.
How to insert the cord:
You will need 2 identical segments.
- First, the cord is threaded through one hole, then it goes around in a circle and returns from where it started.
- The second cord is threaded in exactly the same way, but from a different hole.
Ready!
