How to Make Virtual Reality Games on the Nintendo Switch with Game Builder Garage

Introducing : The Switch Vision Pro
Today I'm sharing an versatile basic VR system for making games in Game Builder Garage. It lets you create spacial environments where you can move a separate player through space that you're viewing with head tracking AND also lets you move through space while observing your environment in "VR".
Now, keep in mind, this obviously isn't true VR with two independent lenses, but the head tracking is really good! It really does feel awesome to move around, look around, and even manipulate objects in 3D with a Switch.
I really don't see anyone making games with this in GBG, so I wanted to share. Before coming across this code from Nintendo, I didn't think something like this was possible on GBG (trust me I Tried).

It feels even weirder now that a new Nintendo switch with abunch of upgrades is coming out soon. I was just recently looking back at Labo today and just realized how much nintendo could do with just the original switch and cardboard. Imagine what could be coming next, could there be cheaper ways to experience VR games on nintendo consoles in the coming future?

You should start a short series on how to create a VR game on GBG like Boneworks and focus on ways to show lore in your Game Builder Garage games

You can change the Tilt Nodon settings to "Angle of rotation" to save on those Maps! (though, the angles you can turn would then become unlimited lol) I think you can also save on the Object and Location Sensor by connecting the Camera Position and Target to the Person directly, and then setting the Person's turning speed to 0. 😀

And by setting the connection points in the camera nodons to Y-, Y+ you can raise the view up a bit. 😃

nintendo should add a vr update maybe? one that allows you to split the view between two halves of the screen :) also btw, yes, if you plug in a usb mouse and keyboard, gbg will recognise the mouse and the switch will allow you to type text with a usb keyboard to make programming at home more efficient.

that would be great, it was a part of the old Labo software that was the beginning of GBG so it should be possible! If there was no mouse support I wouldn't be able to record videos, I'm glad its an option.

@@DaveNodon that’s true! a lot of the gbg was also in the vr toy-con garage too. maybe nintendo could make a headset you could dock a switch into or something similar? if they were to do that though, they’d have to find some way to distribute the weight. the switch is _fairly_ heavy.

Only problem is GBG doesn’t have a split screen camera, so you can’t have the 3d VR feel, and putting the screen too close to your face just makes you unable to tell what’s going on

@DaveNodon the only problem with this idea is the fact that most VR headsets show one image per eye but this gbg project doesn't display two images one for each eye it shows one image for both eyes so when you use a labo headset this might look kind of funky maybe a fix for this in the future :D?

Splitting the view is impossible on GBG but you could take out the part that holds the lenses independently! It’s funny, labo runs on earlier software that became GBG so they could’ve just left the true VR Dual lenses feature if they wanted to

Hey Dave, I need help making a game when you click a button it puts a random number on a cube and your biggest number on another cube. I cant figure out how to make the biggest number I get go on the other cube, I beleive I have to use a bigger than comparison but it won’t work😢
