Finding the limitations of the Noctua NH-D15 with a an easy overclock on an i5 10600k. There is also a walkthrough of how I did the overclocking, followed by the results of temperatures as I tested the clock speeds. This is the base build for testing cpu cooling solutions in the future.

Yes, you can shut down the computer and reset the bios. This is what anyone who pushes the system too far has to do as well. It's a complete refresh to any changes made in the bios.

Make sure you press F10 to save the bios. If your overclocking passed the turbo then you should disable it. Also check to make sure your temps are good.

@simplerudd9235

Thats gonna depend on the rest of the system. I would say you want a good 200w dedicated to just the cpu. If you are running 12th gen Intel and you are overclocking, you will want closer to 300w for the cpu.

I used the overclock setting 2 in AI suite 3, and it sets all cores to 50, BCLK at 100mhz, CPU Cache ratio at 43*. But it only runs 4800mhz 100*48 all the time, but in Ratio it says 5000mhz?? I have tryet bumping all cores up to 52 in bios, then it runs at the 5000mhz some times a little higher, but makes a failure like in your video.. My CPU is a I9 9900k 3.6 to 5.0ghz 8 cores, my motherboard is a Asus Z390 plus-Gaming, my ram is Gskill ripjaws 3600mhz cl 16.. I dont know what to adjust so it runs the 50=5000mhz its set to, and not the 4800mhz its running now?? I tryet setting the Cache ratio at 50, but that was a bad ideer, my hole system freesed, and i had to shut down the pc, by holding the power button down lol..

How are your temps on the CPU? Could just have a heat issue or a voltage issue. There's also a chance that the CPU just can't hit it. Some people hit the CPU lottery and can hit ridiculous speeds, while others can't overclock.

@@simplerudd9235 What i have seen the highest temps i got on it with 100% load was up to about 76 degrees, i havent tryiet to do a stress test, because i didn know how or what program to use lol. i got a tower cooler, its a Be Quiet dark rock pro 4.. But when gaming it dosent use over 40% CPU usage, most of the time its under 25% even in Red Dead Redemtion online.. The only game its running highest in is Warhammer vermintide 2.. But when gaming its runs about 50 degrees + -, I just read about something in BIOS callet "RING DOWN BIN", there makes the CPU runs 2-300mhz under the core clock, but what i can read about disabling it, is not a good idear because then the cache ratio, can go nuts and run up to about the same as the core clock and make the system to shut down.. I dont think its a temp problem i have, but im not shure? But i always over watch the temp and other things when gaming, i use the msi afterburner, But i have a Asus RTX 3060 12gb OC graphic card with 2 fans, But cant get the Asus Gpu tweak 2 program to show it when gaming lol, so thats why i use the Msi afterburner. I got a diesent air flow with my 3 Noctua 3000rpm 140mm fans, 2 in front and 1 back, and my kabinet is a Be Quiet pure base 500DX TG, its a little loud when gaming but i dont here it with my headset on, and not mutch when racing in Wreckfest with speakers, But after i got the 3000rpm fans and kabinet, and set the Gpu fans to run faster with lower temps, my GPU gets max about 61 degrees with about the 99% load, i have overclockt my GPU to the max, and 110% watts, from stuck when i got the GPU it was set to run the fans at 100% when the temp got to about 85 degrees i think it was, but it never got that high in temps, but about 75 degrees before, dont know why Asus set the stuck setting like that? @@simplerudd9235 Thanks lol. Yes the CPU voltage is on Auto i just tjekket.. Yes its odd, but it have something to do with that "RING DOWN BIN" setting there makes it run the 200mhz lower, i have to read some more about it, before disabling it.. But i have also read something about its better to manual overclocking, instead of using OC tuning 1 or 2.. But i havent tryet yet.. Because i have used the most of my day on setting my pc up again, because i thougt there was a failure in the system, there made it shut down, so i reset the pc, but after i saw your video i know for shure it was because of my OC settings, All cores set to 52 in bios that it didn like, i know now because it shown the same picture when it shut down, like in your video lol, all that time i had wasted, stupid me lol.. But before i set the core ratio in bios, i had played some days with the same settings inside the AI suite 3 program, but was tired off setting it on every time i was starting my pc, lacy me lol. But in there it was working the few days, but maby its auto adjust the voltage in there, but i didn notice what voltage it was running on, but in the AI suite 3 program i know for sure the voltage is set on default, because i did not dare to totch it lol..

All CPU are sadly not equal. Some can push to 5.3 all core where other's can't be OC'd much passed stock. I would try leaving the voltage at auto. Make sure you aren't overheating. Then try to OC 100mhz at a time. You may have better luck leaving all core lower and pushing your first core harder.
