Very true. Slavic langueages are pretty similar. For example, I'm ukranian but I can mostly understand polish, though I never studied it.

а мені подобається як "расійськомовні" українці такі - я знаю український! .я білінгл! но фак ю буду говорити російсько....бо у нас вільна країна...і всі можуть говорити тією мовою якою хочуть....але українську я знаю якщо що......ми зно ми здаємо з укр....і у нас вся документація українською...і...і офіційні програми по телеку українською..так ніби виправдовуючись....но фак ю 99% в свому житті говорю расійською...ще рідше ніж якийсь Мохамед з Ірану який вивчив українську. Самі того не усвідомлюючи перетворюєте її на латину.

Nobody wants to learn this language.The need is absent 1. You need it for work in the future? No. Perhaps few Americans win this war because Selensky took out loans from the US. He can't pay that back. The Ukrainian government has never repaid debts. ^^! The USA also accepts agricultural land, mines ...2. Do you need it for vacation? No. (The Ukrainian government has allowed uranium-enhanced ammunition and mines. 3. Selensky wants people to learn English. 4. Refugee Ukrainians are learning a language of the country. 4. In the world, people do not speak Ukrainian. It is not useful. 5. All old Ukrainian texts can be translated with Translator 6. It will be dangerous for Ukrainians to speak Russian. Then people will have to learn Ukrainian. That is a bad reason to learn a language. 7. EU rules will overwhelm you. Ye will hate the new rules 8. Ukrainians do not want to go back to Ukraine if they are integrated in other countries 9. Many Ukrainian children without parents are registered in Germany Also in Poland, France, Austria . Children will learn other languages 10. Selensky lets the men who speak Ukrainian die, demanding weapons and lives.

Hi Inna, it is obvious why more people would want to learn Ukranian now. So I just started the first two lessons of the Cyrillic alphabet, most difficult are the z as in pleasure and the letter that sounds like shch (fresh cheese). Hello / Привіт. letter З (z) is pronounced as "z" in zoo, zebra, zimbabwe... letter Ж (zh) is pronounced as French j in words je t'aime (i love you), bon jour (good morning) or it has similar sound as English "s" in pleaSure, aSia

I see that my native Serbian is much closer to Ukrainian than to Russian. very similar pronunciation without softening and both are phonetic. баба, ваза, небо, жаба, зуб, лампа, мама. these words are exactly the same written and pronounced in Ukr and Serb

@Tomioka the loner I have nothing against the Russian people or their language, they are victims of Putin's folly too, I would rather, as a citizen of the free world support the economy of Ukraine. By the way my grandfather was beaten by the Nazis when he was a prisoner in WW2 that didn't stop me learning German at school or Visiting Germany as an adult. I have no problems with the Germans and have several German Friends.

Try learning Ukrainian and Russian, since they are extremely similar. It is possible! Im learning Ukrainian and German which have different alphabets and im doing it, so u could try both!

Interesting to hear that the use of ґ was actually forbidden. It is a very useful letter, at least in transliterating foreign names and words. Take Lady Gaga, for example. It is often spelt Леді Гага. This would read as Lady Ha-ha, if you were not aware of the proper pronunciation. Not very nice.

Almost all of the ukrainian examples in this video are slovak words as well (kava, zaba, mama, zub, nebo, dub, vaza,...). I didnt know we share so many words. Im looking forward to visit your beautiful country one day, Slava Ukraini!

Thanks so much! Wish I started this first and created some flashcards before using other methods like duolingo. I've been trying to learn the language for over a year and this should have been my starting point. I love Ukraine!

That is FANTASTIC! Ukrainian is also a very beautiful and powerful language---There are groups in Japan that study the poems of Taras Shevchenko---famous Ukrainian poet!

There is a Ukrainian alphabet song created in Canada (Please stop calling the Ukrainian alphabet and other Slavic alphabets Cyrillic--they are all different!)

What makes this language a bit more easy for me is because a lot of the letters have the same sound in Spanish (i also know Portuguese and french) .Btw it was Kool seeing and hearing my name in Ukrainian.

You're a really good teacher. I'm finding Learning Ukrainian is so much easier than learning Russian. Which I actually started learning first. But then I saw how beautiful Ukrainian women are (including you including you), so I decided to learn Ukrainian first. слава Україні

A helpful video, Inna. (I followed Nika's link here) Only one thing (Us English often cringe at this)😂. American vs British English pronunciation. Vase. In American, it is how you said. 'VAYZE'. in British English, it is 'VARZE' similar to вазе without the 'e'. 😁⚘
