He is an ex-Dr. of psychiatry. He is now a journalist and producer. He gets his info from scientific researchers, claims it as his own, and writes books to make money-his only objective. Scientist Mark Mattson created the 5:2 diet, not Mosley, Valter Longo created the intermittent fasting and prolonged fasting, Eric Berg talks about keto diet, and exercises---long before Mosley appeared. I have known about all this for a long time, because I listen to the scientists, not this phony. Watch BBC "Eat Fast and Live Longer" and you will see the real creators of this diet and healthy lifestyle.

I've just lost nearly three stone on The Blood Sugar Diet and the best part is that my cravings for sugar have completely disappeared. I've also read Robert Lustig's book which goes deeper into the effects of sugar and processed foods. My life and way of eating has been completely revolutionised.
@ktkee7161

I lost 3 stone by reducing my intake of sugary drinks & sweets by about 80%. Sadly my cravings have not disappeared, I still find sugar as delish as ever. Wish they'd hurry up and make a tasty sugar alternative.
@mikatu
@mikatu 4 роки тому
Once and for all, sugar is not the enemy. Too much sugar is the real problem. Specially if that sugar is processed. Everything you eat that is ready to eat contains too much of at least one of these three ingredients: salt, fat, sugar. A lot of times you have two in the same product. If you cook at home for sure you will avoid that triangle. But sugar is not the culprit here, too much sugar is, or too much fat, or too much salt. All of those ingredients are important for you, but not in excess.

Speaking about doctors knowing nothing about nutrition they also don't know a lot about the drugs they prescribe. I had a heart attack and received 2 stents. Told to exercise and lose weight. Unfortunately the meds caused fatigue and weight gain. Neither my doctor or cardiac surgeon knew Metoprolol caused weight gain and I put on 12 kilos in a year. They also disapproved of me being on the ketogenic diet and although my heart is functioning well I'm dismayed by the lack of real support I have to get healthier and it's just about pushing me to take drugs.

What I've discovered is that this 62 year old woman actually needs to eat less all the time, and I'm reaping the rewards. If you want to see Med Diet look at Portugal or Greece. Don't look to Spain (what a joke) or Italy. I started fasting after watching the documentary on BBC, but I fast for real, one day per week, not that BS of 5:2. Fasting is not eating at all, not eating less. Anyway, I lost 20kgs and I wasn't expecting anything like that. I was just trying to do it for the health benefits. I still do it during the cold months, one day per week of fasting (lunch on Friday and then I only eat again Saturday afternoon or for dinner). If am not able to do it at least I fast for half a day (have lunch and then only have breakfast the next day). That one is quite easy and anyone can do it.

The Spanish diet is healthy, but Spain is a big country and the traditional diet is very different depending upon where you are. The North have a lot of lentils and beans, whereas the South has a lot more fish in Andalucía.. it really depends. But yes, people are eating crap here now as well, unfortunately...

I was diagnosed with GDM during my pregnancy in 2019. After birth though I wasn't dieting and had a c section as baby got to 5kg in there. A year later in 2020 I had diabetes. In that year I lost 39kg and I still have 18kg to go to reach my target of 48kg. Im still diabetic tho I don't take medication for 8months now. If I have 5 grapes my glucose spikes to 15 so my pancreas is messed up. When I'm on low carb diet carbs usually coming from veg and occasional 5 single pasta in meals my glucose is 5. Huge difference but in life u do crave crisp and chocolate. Small children lunch packs are ok to have once in a while. I find that after I eat a meal I should walk for 2 mins which helps. I eat around 800-1000 calories a day.

I find it funny that you blame others for what you do to your body. No one is forcing me to overeat, no one is forcing me to eat sugar like crazy. Unless you live in the US you have plenty of alternatives to eat healthy. In the US of course not. In that case, poor you. Other than that, you have options and willpower to eat healthy and not get fat.

@@mikatu not necessarily if you consider how many misleading label's are put on products such as 'low fat' as it was mentioned a lot in this talk. on top of that things that are low sugar usually have artificial sweeteners which again were mentioned in this talk about the negative affects it has. there's a whole marketing campaign done by these companies to mislead on what's actually healthy, promote their own products and pump their food with things that make them very tasty. so to ignore all that and just put the blame on the individual doesn't add up. of course people should take personal responsibility but it can't be put down to personal responsibility alone.

Be aware of "The Whoosh", when you pee like a racehorse. What happens is that your fat cells don't go away. As the fat in the cell is used up your body replaces the fat with water, in case it needs that space. You will be very thirsty right before the "Whoosh". When your body realizes that it doesn't need the full cell with water, it releases the water, the cell flattens, and you pee out the water that was held in your cells. You will drop a bunch of lbs. in water weight! That's a great thing! It means your body has been burning the fat and your cells are flattening, thereby losing water weight along with fat weight. I love when I "Whoosh". 👍💙💚

Predimed study the low fat group did not actually eat low fat. And the people that swapped olive oil with nuts were even better. So this guy is a good marketeer but health advice will be very modest benefits over standard tv diet. True big health improvements come from whole foods plant based diet based on whole starchy staples, vegetables, fruit.

Lamb is plant based. Strictly grass based to be exact. Pasture raised sheep where nothing else grows. Neat, isn't it?

My 2µF you are just using wishful thinking. The diet of kings kills whether cow, lamb, etc. mechanisms are slowly being understood but protein is the biggest factor. If you want to live long and be healthy, you must center your diet around whole starchy staples, vegetables, some fruit. The further you stray from this dietary pattern, the less healthier you will be.

_Lamb is plant based._ [laff] So is canola oil. Exclusively plant-based, in fact. So, let's drink a couple of liters of oil every day. [/laff]

48:26 classic example of triangulation. The scapegoat sister who knows what is best for father. A golden girl (GP) Sister who knows what is best for mother. Mother ignores nutrionalist, the daughter's advice, and continues to keep the father in a continued state of illness because the mother knows the father loves her (nutritionalist) more than them (mother and GP daughter) How do I know? Because I have the exact same family. He may be 80 with diabetes but he would be a hell of a lot healthier if he avoided all sugar and carbs (swap bread even wholemeal for SOURDOUGH) AND upped his bio dome health AND had a happier family, but they're not happy - they fight. Isn't it interesting? Good HEALTH isn't just about food and excercise it's so complex there is so much more to it.

Exercise, imo, is like frantically running from a bear! It shoots cortisol, the stress or fight or flight hormone, all over my fat body, then I bloat up. I just like nice relaxing walks. I'm really old and can't do all the stuff you youngins' can do. Lol

Sitting in church once a week meditating does the mindfulness thing for the week very effectively. Riding the bike to supermarket is rather hard and intense and I end up doing two bouts of about 20 minutes for that. It does get easier over time. Mediterranean diet tastes pretty nice I think. Splashing vinaigrette on an eggie breakfast to add more good oil. The government promote a high carb diet because they know carbs are cheaper so we can buy them and support the carb and sugar companies. It ought to be pointed out that richer people buy far more protein because it’s dearer! Poor people can only afford carbs and white sugar- let’s be very honest. How many poor people buy salmon, broccoli, red wine, olive oil, dark chocolate, seeds, nuts?? Huh? Be honest- poor people eat bread, rice, pasta, sugar, cordial, instant coffee, fizzy drink. Because it’s cheap cheap cheap.

Mike Mosley is a very likeable and intelligent chap. He is right when he talks about added sugar and table sugar as not especially healthy. However, when he states that fat is not the villain that we all though it was, he is simply and plainly wrong. Saturated fat has been shown for many decades through a variety of studies (ranging from controlled feeding and interventional to observational) to raise blood cholesterol levels. Similarly, cholesterol has been demonstrated to play a pivotal role in cardiovascular disease. It is possible to force the body to convert glucose into fat, but that takes a lot of effort and a lot of sugar consumption! He mentions the 8 year randomised trial where women were randomly assigned a diet lower in fat or not. Dr Mosley refers to it as a "low fat" diet - well, although the reduction in fat intake seems significant (about 25%) this was NOT a low fat diet. 30% of calories as fat is still relatively high and thus predictably there was almost no weight lost. So, no it was not a good study - randomised but deeply flawed. However, if you put people on a real low fat diet (which means 10% or less) whole food diet, the weight falls off them. If sugar truly was the bogey man, then the metabolic ward study carried out by by Dr Walter Kempner over 60yrs ago, would have failed miserably. As it was, feeding people a diet consisting of white rice with a small amount of vegetables, topped up with table sugar to make it iso-caloric, worked extremely well. They lost weight, reversed their T2 Diabetes and even reversed some cases of diabetic retinopathy. The main cause of T2 Diabetes is intramyocellular lipid (fat droplets inside the muscle cells), which stops insulin from doing its job of allowing glucose into the cells. That's why when people lower their fat intake to

To hear that Doctors are not given any training on dietary is crazy. It is such an important subject and an essential part of healthy living that not to train Doctors so that they can give their patients good solid advice on diet seems almost crazy. We talk about 'preventative' measures - surely our eating habits which are absolutely appalling these days should be targeted.
