14:42 I wrote a book called The Eye of Gogi and one of the things I point out is that, contrary to popular belief, hard work does not always come from passion; passion comes from hard work. You getting into it and knowing you're investing precious time in it means you then want to make the most of it. By thinking this way you can do a great job at anything, including things you might not want to do at first.

I naturally took to difficult tasks that were asked of me when I was young. I love solving problems but I suck at math. I have an unorthodox way of achieving the same goals as my competitors. I just take a different road to get there. Doing something is way better than doing nothing. That's what dad always said.

Identity is so important. Many years ago I decided to quit smoking. (I’m old. When I was young everyone smoked.) well I never defined myself as someone who was 'trying to quit' or 'going to quit' I immediately defined my self as a Non Smoker. I haven’t smoked at all since that day and it was about 50 years ago.

You don’t do anything because the motivational video gives you a neurological reward, signaling your brain that you already did something positive towards your goals … what we really need to be doing is sit down with ourselves and ask “what is my purpose “ it might takes weeks, months, days but everything and everyone has a purpose. I'm retired. I hate exercise. I hate sitting home all day. So I joined the YMCA Silver Sneaker aerobics class just to have a reason to get up and go somewhere as if I was going to work(which was 30 years). I go M-W-F for 1 hour. It has been 7 years now and that "incremental" addition of 1 hour 3X a week has given me a reason for living. I'm 70 and feel like 40! 70 is the new 40. Now I just have to loose 20 pounds!

“A little bit everyday everyday” My old Sicilian neighbor would always say this. She couldnt do much of her yard work at a time but by doing small bits every day she ended up with an amazing yard and garden eventually. I remember this when it seems useless just to do a small things often to get to a goal instead of just waiting till i have the time to make a huge effort at once. She ended up with a nice yd n garden after a year and i ended up with an unfulfilled goal of a nice yd and garden in the same span of time. I learned a lot from that experience.

Atomic Habits 1- The Power of Tiny Gains • Aggregation of marginal gains. • 1% improvement every 5 days can get you x10 better in one year. • Obtain better systems, not better goals. 2- The power of identity • The psychology of ageing study. • Change your mindset and not just the actions. • A shift in mindset leads to a change in daily behaviour. • A shift in daily behaviour leads to great success ion the long run. 3- Ruthless elimination • Priorities cannot be many. • Judges judging people before/after lunch study, • Decision fatigue/ego depletion. 4- The 25-5 rule • Make a list of the 25 things you want to do in life/career. • Simplify your priorities list down to the 5 top and never do any of the rest. 5- The 3 R’s of habit formation • Reminder -> Routine -> Reward • Leverage the trigger by planning to do something after other habit you have. 6- The 2-minute rule • Focus on the first 2 minutes of new habits to reduce friction. • Motivation comes AFTER you start an action, not BEFORE. 7- Precommitment • Pre-book time in your calendar for a new habit is more likely to get you to do it. • Use this to promote behavioural change. 8- Implementation intentions • Write your goals down like: During the next I will partake in on at at . • Triple odds of success over watching motivational videos. 9- Keystone habits • Focus on the habits that motivate you and help you “flow” through the day. • Find what works for you seeing what gives you a boost of energy/motivates you to eat better/helps your day flow. 10- Environment design • Design for laziness. • Make bad habits hard to do and good habits easy to do. 11- Seinfield strategy • Keep track of the days you make a habit happen. • Display the track somewhere easy to look at. • Gamify it so you try to keep the streak.

It's weird to say but I found the same thing with my kids when they were born. I thought they were adorable but I honestly wasn't that attached even through the first couple of months. Once I started taking over the caretaking duties from my wife I fell in love with them. It's like I had to go through the motions of loving them before it actually happened. Happened with both my kids and from what I've heard it's a common experience for new parents.

I have been saying a lot of these things before I even knew someone else has said them. It's just so true. Motivation comes later, and it's the hardest to get going not keep going. Once you're in the flow, you're in the flow. I can spend DAYS sitting in my filthy home and watch videos and do nothing because I can't get my ass up to clean. But once I start cleaning I usually do everything, and then have the energy to keep going and do other shit as well. The trick with the commanding people is a really good one. I was working as a door to door salesman (well, dunno how to call as I wasn't REALLY selling anything, I just made people donate to the local ambulance service.) and when I ask them open ended questions I was turned down so much. ONce I stopped and I gave them a specific amount and kinda just acted like they wanted to do it anyways they went along with it A LOT more often. Same with women: If you ask a woman "Hey wanna go out?" they will ignore you or turn you down. But if you say "Hey, let's go dancing on friday night. There is this and that club that I like. See you then?" you are so likely to get a positive answer
