Completely agree, great backup but those OEM prices are wild For people that like the turn by turn on their HUD (if available) it can make navigation more seamless. Wish carplay and such integrated on the HUD

But you still get the traffic sign and speed recognization which is worth $25 alone imo

Yeah, my guess is Mazda wants to rake in money through people that pay for "official" map updates. I'm super thankful there's a cheap alternative from aftermarket. Even without a HUD, it makes so much sense for such a low price to get navigation (but not the crazy dealer price) I want to test more things like how it works with voice commands and Android auto, etc. My Honda Accord is a 2013 for example, and Honda still wants me to pay $150 to update the maps for the GPS 😂 WITH A CD! That said, even those 10 year old maps show 99% of all roads I've ever driven on 🤙Of course. More Mazda videos to come 👍

@@Striker50_ Yep... In fact, after the update I noticed performance improvements (quicker loading, better routing suggestions, etc). How Mazda knew I installed the map SD card remains a mystery to me. Anyway, they made it available at no $$ cost, so I took it. As I understand things going forward, the license to use the card/feature/service expires after three years - in my case October 2024. The acid test will be to see what their renewal offering/terms/pricing looks like. I like FREE... 😉

From my understanding what I read in forums, the SD card is included with the top signature trim which is why it is the only trim that is marketed with Navigation from factory. I believe the SD card itself that enables the TSR. It would make sense for Mazda (and more cost effective) to include an SD card with the signature trim, instead of giving it tech exclusive to just the Signature. Of course I may be mistaken, but from a business perspective, companies operate on efficiency usually, instead of exclusivity.

Why do you need traffic sign recognition, can you not see the traffic signs through the windscreen, plus other things that might be going on like other cars, pedestrians, dogs, children, horses, potholes to avoid. Scantily clad young ladies in summer, I might be old, but it does not stop me noticing them, just in case they change their minds ( womans perogotive) and cross the road with out looking. Its called observation of body language, not perving.

Try this: Speak very specific commands. Notice when you hold the button it gives specific phrases to use on the screen. I was having this issue too until I figured out how to phrase it

You should be good, I've had similar tint like this for over 15 years. Only gotten stopped once and it was a fix it citation. $25 bucks, and then you could always re-apply it after showing police you removed it. Only time I got stopped was in 2011

@@chrisrice963 Ah ok I understand you better now. The OEM memory card is about a $450+ tax dealer add-on for the navigation SD card itself. The $25 upgrade almost any newer Mazda owner can do it get an aftermarket SD card and get 98% of the OEM features (the 2% being the ability to update maps which I don't think is too important) The HUD (heads up display) that is on the windshield is for the Premium Plus trim (non-turbo) and up I believe. I saw the Carbon in person and actually really liked the burgundy leather. It looked way more lipstick red 💄 in some videos but looks so much nicer in person

@@chrisrice963 The extra features for many Mazda owners are that they get Satellite navigation which is very well integrated into the car, and for higher trims, even more features with the HUD and such 👌

I am not familiar with the older style nav. Sounds like you may be better off using a phone mount and Google Maps. 3 year old maps also will probably have 99.5% of the roads. I'd imagine a 10 year old navigation takes much longer to use and input than on a cell

Carbon edition will most likely not have it unfortunately

I reached out to a guy that does a lot of our family cars. He is mobile and came with a team of 3, so they knocked it out in like 45 minutes it was quite impressive. I believe it was $480, and no tint on the front 2 windows is technically legal, but it is best to check with your state or region since tint laws vary by area. That said, it is great and keeps the car cooler than other tint films

I can't confirm that the TD2K works on the smaller screens. That would be the BHP card for the 8 inch screens. The TD2K would work for the 10.25'' screens The KVM6 is for the 12'' screens and the 2024 CX-5 which is random, but I think because the 2024 cx-5 uses the wireless carplay/etc. No worries, here to answer questions. Oh wow I think you're the first person that has gotten the subscription. As for the trim specific I believe that is made up marketing since the cards work for all trims. The wireless dongle is true. I have since seen them pop up all over tiktok and have considered trying it out, but for now there's no immediate need. Thanks for the 2 cents!

I don't sell them, I just make it easier for people to find them. Amazon usually has free returns in case it doesn't work. Navi-World is a GREAT site to find these cards on too

Nice glad to hear it works! As for the TSR it should still show from what I've read in the forums but it will display next to your speedometer. It could be that the road you're on is newer, or the car didn't pick it up. But do report back if it doesn't show TSR after a while

(From what I read, I do not know how accurate this is) It locks to your car essentially so it's not transferrable. I do not know how true that is since I do not have 2 Mazdas to test it on, otherwise I would gladly test. As you saw, they said the car had to be off when installing the car, but I had the car on, and the Map card still installed You're never "stuck" with the card. Can always remove it at any point and insert another one. My 2013 Accord has 11 year old maps and they still work great. Consider these a back up measure to Android Auto, etc. You can always get an official OEM Mazda card, though I would be mind blown as to why someone would want to spend around $500 plus $100+ map updates thereafter. I would rather buy a Garmin, or actual GPS for that price. Keep in mind this is already kind of old technology, and that's why for $25-$50, it's a great back up. Honda every year sends me mail to update my maps for $150 to the latest one. There is no need since my maps show virtually all of the streets here in Los Angeles, and I have my cell phone that I use for accurate live traffic

But it seems that you can add a new chip whenever you want but wanted to confirm with you since you own the car (I am literally buying one that is a 2023 that is slightly used with less than 4000 miles for a massive discount). I don't know what we will do but we will definitely follow this great instruction and use a map that is 2-3 years old for at least the next few years. Thank you!

Absolutely. I want to make sure I provide the best feedback to my ability. Got it. Yes you can add a new SD card 4 years from now. Kind of like a picture camera with SD Cards. You can always change the card. Awesome! That is exactly how we got our 2023. Such an amazing value and the cherry on the top was the 7 year/ 100k extended warranty. These cars are super reliable as is, but that added peace of mind is incredible value. @@Buc_Stops_Here

I would take it with a grain of salt. What I understood is that the SD Card "burns" to your VIN after 50 miles of driving, so that you're not sharing the card with other cars. I personally don't care for the maps to be constantly updated, if even possible at this point with the aftermarket method. I have a 2013 Accord and those 2013 maps show everything I would need as a back up measure. For daily traffic navigating, I use Google maps anyway

Is your vehicle equipped with HUD? Not all trims come with HUD that's why I ask. I know the CX-30 settings are slightly different depending on the year, perhaps you may check through HUD settings and see if TSR (traffic sign recognition) is an applicable setting

But again, if the maps come up when you put the card in, then you know they work and they should continue to work so long as the card remains inside. It's possible that sellers sell in batches so they could look a little different. I like the peace of mind from Amazon because of I get issues I can just send it back for a full refund

Did you use the KMV6 card? People have been mentioning the 2024+ CX-5 uses a different card. My guess is because it uses the touch screen now. Yeah that's why I try to link the Amazon ones with returns it's a much easier process

Will the 2024 CX-90 card KMV6-66-EZ1 work on a brand new CX-5. There is nothing I could find anywhere on-line that described any cards compatibility with a 2024 CX-5.

I read every forum and Amazon comment section I could and it seems like after 2021 the card doesn't matter because Mazda made all of these "counterfeit" if it's not OEM, so from an update point of view, they're all outdated

@@richardbutchereit7316 The CX-90 uses a 12.3" screen whereas the Cx-5 uses a 10.2" so that could be a reason. That's how I had the original issue bc the description says in very fine detail it's only for the 8" screen on the first one I had no luck with

The screen must explain the CX-90. I didn't order one so thanks for the info. Now I am back to whether there was something wrong with the TD2K66EZ1 that I tried.(or did they ship a BHP1 66EZ1P by mistake.) My car was made in July 2023 (2024) n Japan. Unless some changes were made by Mazda I'm thinking the TD2K66EZ1 should have worked. Nobody on-line even mentions the 2024 CX-5 compatibility but there is the KMV6-66-EZ1 for the 2024 CX-90.

You also do have the "touch screen" option now, but I don't think that should affect anything related to the navigation. Perhaps consider another one since it's possible there could be a mix up. I would assume an average person is just copying and pasting these onto SD cards and slapping a sticker on them. Could be a mix up @@richardbutchereit7316

Which Satnav did you get? As for the updates, it's not really necessary. I have maps from 2013 in my Honda and it still shows practically everywhere

In the US that may work out amazingly for you, in the UK we have restrictions on top of restrictions for updates. We landed with the Sony XAV AX3250 that has android and apple carplay. I use waze for my nav , we could use google maps or any number of apps, waze works for voice command and the Sony has the back up cam feature my son needs as he has no confidence backing up a long car (17 y/o.) Our original set up was for the tom tom head unit, I am not sure how the US rolled out the facelift (MK3) but I am sure your only had 1 or 2 years of this in dash TT unit, maybe more.@@Striker50_

This sounds like the card that may cover Turkey, and the smaller screen: Bjm7 66 Ez1g I cannot say 100% if it will work, but that's what came up

I wouldn't say it's a "better" option, but definitely a great alternative/ supplement. People may find convenience in not having to plug their phone in, and some people with the HUD can appreciate the turn by turn shown on the windshield. I found it quite easy to use honestly and it's convenient enough. Again, Android auto etc. is great, but for short trips around town, or when in an area with no cell service, etc it's nice to have

Remember you can only get updates with OEM Mazda card. Depending on your country AliExpress may be good, but some make you pay for your returns

This is the closest I could find. It's for the previous Mazda 3. I can't read arabic, or what some of the reviews say, but perhaps you may understand it

Good point Keep in mind if someone is doing a longer road trip, that is quite an excess amount of maps that would have to be downloaded. And there always is a chance that a phone could break or stop working. I had my phone completely bust when I landed on it on a cycling trip after wiping out. The paywall is crazy though

Anytime. OEM SD card gets complimentary UPDATES for the maps for 3 years I believe. After 3 years, I believe Mazda charges like $80. Numbers are not exact, but that is what I saw a lot of OEM people complaining about (having to pay for updates). The maps themselves will continue to work. @@simkunzle6419

@@berikdiaz1216 The 2021 CX-5 should use the TD2K card if you're in North America I ask which card number you got because it sounds like it's not the correct one The descriptions can be confusing

Yup that is the downside with a lot of car navigations, they are not live time, so it does not show construction, and closures. Google Maps is always great

Yup! Should be the TD2K since it's a 10.25" I'm not sure the Select trim has a HUD, but you will see TSR and speed limit next to your speedometer most likely Hope that helps 👌
