Great Video! It's so important too know, that most of the other Image Upscalers don't work properly (maybe such all of them). I'm glad I'm a perfectionist and registered that the images Topaz Gigapixel AI upscaled for me weren't seamless anymore... so I can now provide more value of my products with PNGs that are really seamless, even after upsacling, using Chainner!! Thank you a lot for this tutorial! I will download it right now and will finish the process you showed step by step. Seems to be a very powerful tool, even it's more complex. Thank you a lot! Gonna try this :)

@@RexelBartolome It's a great tool, just started running it and it came up with a great quality of the images I upscaled 4x times! :) I stopped the upscaling at the 6th image for checking if it's seamless..and definitely it Is! :) I used the create border option "reflect mirror" like you, and noticed the image starts reflecting itself or better said the border, what the name is meant to be! So I got one more question for that... how does the other border settings work? Like "wrap tile"? Cause I not always want those borders too reflecting. Are there some border options which will keep the structure of the base image? :) And is there a way too upscale 6-7x times in one process? Maybe I have to add one more "upscale image" point in the chain, right? Great Video! I love this tool. The Quality is insanely good although I upscaled it just 4x - I'm very happy with the results for now :)

I forgot too set up "crop border" before "save image" ! I used "create border" ! But with cropping the borders the reflection ain't visible anymore - so my question got cleaned out! It's seamless right now :D But my second questions remains... is there a way too scale up 6x-7x times in one process? Thank you so much 😋

@@RexelBartolome Ok I checked out upscaling too 8k Pixels than resizing it too 4096 like you showed in the first half of the video and it worked great - but it's very important too set up the "2" on the second math pannel, when the second model is a 2x upscaler! :) It takes a lot time upscaling over 100 hundred images... will it upscale faster when the folders selected are directly on a harddrive path? :) Mine are strongly beneath the direct paths, they are sub-sub-sub-sub folders on my documents :P
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome 9 місяців тому
@@ProdByPurpleXO Im not sure it would be faster computation wise but it's definitely more automated compared to doing them one by one manually. But yea Chainner was made with batch processing in mind so I recommend tinkering with upscaling whole folders instead of individual images. Just make sure the output folder is entirely separated from the input folder, otherwise you'll continually upscale the (already upscaled) output images and might crash your PC 😅

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to upload the tutorial. I am having trouble getting SD to work on my mac so I set about doing this manually and there is a key point that some people may miss (like myself). You need to increase the size of the document by 16px and fill the extra pixels WITH THE PATTERNED IMAGE, not transparancy or white space! Then upscale how ever you like and crop back the extra 64px from all sides. Workes perfectly! This is totally obvious when you think about it, but it took me two hours to work that out. Slam me if you will, but hopefully my time saves your time.
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome Рік тому
That's true! This is what I was trying to explain with expanding using Math nodes and cropping afterwards.

Hi, thanks for your tutorial, may i know what if i only want to upscale 2 times only(instead of 4 times)? I tried adjust the number in MATH box, but it didn't work, please help, thanks.
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome Рік тому
You can't do that in the math box. You need to change the number in the Resize (Resolution) box and write the size that you want to only be 2x the size. Upscalers tend to only do 2x or 4x depending on the model you downloaded.

I am on a 2016 macbook pro and the first pyTorch model I tried worked well but took 75 seconds per image. I used Chainner to convert the model to NCNN and this now runs the smae image in about 6 seconds.

batch upload maybe inconvenient for textures with different size.
@thanosgeor

What's the average computational time? I know this will depend on CPU and RAM of the machine, but would just like to set realistic expectations...
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome 9 місяців тому
i think it mainly depends on input and output size. Upscaling a 512x512 to twice its size takes less than 15 secs on my machine if I remember correctly.

yes, i explained this on the second half of the vid, you need to use the iterator and it will upscale all the images inside the given folder (even subdirectories)

Can I use this same to enhance a portrait image of a person?
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome 10 місяців тому
yes, I've done that too. Chainner is just the program that makes upscaling easier but you can use different models (i.e., a model trained to upscale faces) for different purposes.

@@RexelBartolome can I use your worlflow as well? I used a realistic model to do so. But , even though I get high res image. It seemed a lot soft and reduced details.
@RexelBartolome
@RexelBartolome 10 місяців тому
lol and that's also what I've encountered unfortunately. Sometimes it changes the face too much and doesn't look like the same person anymore. You can look into 'SD upscale' if youre dealing with generated images. If youre dealing with actual photos of real people maybe look into Topaz if they have better upscalers than the free ones.

@mistraelify

Why do you upscale it two times ? Is there a reason for that ? Nevermind i found the answer of my question... There are some things you can do to "improve" your workflow: You should first delete the second upscaler. It's clearly not needed and performance hungry if you're upscaling pictures greater than 1024x1024. If you do so, you need to change the second and third "Math" to 2 instead of 4, if it's 2x model set the second to 1 and the third to 2. Also the Resize (Resolution) has purpose only if your Crop node is greater than your target resolution. Also i went into a loophole because of the upscaler's "Auto (estimation)" If you're stuck on it, change it to 256 or 512 size. It will prevent loophole (seen on the main.log). This should improve slighty the speed of upscaling for users with low-mid end computers. Very good workflow i never though it would be possible to actually do seamless upscales with perfect results.
