The main reason why "normal" (social and peaceful) people lose street fights is that they don't believe they're really in a street fight before they're bleeding flat on the ground. And this is in fact a civilization-problem that is hard to train away. Nevertheless, as a long-time Boxing fan I love your content. Great work. Greetings from Germany

Totally agree and the truth is most trouble or altercations take a really long time to wind up but because people are not fully aware of what's going on around them they miss multiple opportunities to walk away or exit the potential situation much earlier.

The best advice here is to put your hands up and your foot back. Don't tackle, don't offer to shake, and don't act tough or you have a low chance of winning. Make it difficult for them to hit you and take your shot if it's there. The smartest advice was to leave if you can back away and don't fight.
@ramsaybolton7464

@jasonsteane2355

Not the hardest man on earth by a long shot, but as a youth I loved scrapping in the streets. Anyone who puts their hands up in front of their face but a distance away has prepared for this and I’m going low with straight right to centre mass, which is a fight ending shot. Anyone who puts their left hand out to shake is taking the mick and gonna get rocked straight on that exposed jaw without a second of hesitation. Anyone who shakes a man’s hand as an agreement they don’t want a fight and then throws a sucker punch isn’t defending himself, he’s pulling a c*nts trick and becoming the aggressor in one, which a court of law will agree with 99% of the time. The only solid advice in all this if you’re not out looking for the fight is to just walk or run away as needed. The takedown works on big guys and I have used it, but if done fast it leaves someone falling backwards to the pavement with a lot of momentum and no way to cushion the blow, unless trained as a stunt man / entertainment wrestler, which could lead to death. Lucky for me I never seriously hurt anyone, as well as never got seriously hurt. Now I’m an older and hopefully wiser man, I know that win or lose, you’re risking too much. Walk away and get on with your life if it’s an egos fight. If it’s a life or death situation you wanna prepare for, train the 400m sprint.

I got into some stupid fights in my 20s, which I am not proud of. After that I became very effective at deflecting fights. By my 30s I was very glad that I was avoiding fights, but I was worried that I was losing the ability to fight. Today I am still in my 40s, and still very good at deflecting fights, for myself of others. However it is still at the back of my mind, that I might one day need the man who can fight.

Remember how _Léon: The Professional_ trained his assassin? The more skilled one is, the closer in one can go. High-end fighting skill becomes like an opposite to that idea: the area of affect moves farther and farther away from the opponent, until becoming entirely abstract. Now that I'm in my mid-40's (having both received _and_ dealt my share of physically-induced discomforts), I've become a sort of Obi-Wan figure, who now finds it best to deal out long-distance injuries using a keyboard. The only pain (from too much training) is in my lower back. The Margaritas help, though.

As someone who knows a wee bit about wrestling, if you’re going for the dive against the other guys’ legs, you better know what you’re doing. Do not try that the first time you’re in a fight: chances are you’re going to get a knee in the face, a punch from the side or fall down together and have to roll around fighting on the floor/pavement.

I agree-I think this shows up the guy as not a street fighter/unarmed combat specialist. If they think you're afraid, they will come after you and/or their friends will too. Speaking from experience using both methods. I can't think of a time when I told someone I didn't want to fight they weren't emboldened and started throwing anyway. When I've set up in a boxing stance and said let's go, they're shocked and don't want to fight or get get nailed a few times they go down and say they don't want to fight...then of course when the bouncers or their friends break it up, they get mouthy and fake tough again and that's when you can LOL.

I did that stance a few years ago in a bar to a mouthy punk. I used the old school boxing stance like 19th century boxing. The dude didn't know what to think but he still wanted to fight someone. He put the bouncer in a headlock who was just sitting on a stool and I sat back down, drank my beer and observed the scrum that ensued with the majority of the patrons in the bar. I tried fighting my dad when I was a teenager and that's the way he put his dukes up. I didn't know what to do and proceeded to get my ass kicked.

Very true! Once most people are hit, their adrenaline is through the roof and they lose a lot of cognitive and thinking ability. Same thing in Combat, once the shit hits the fan, those with experience typically know better how to react (practice and training / experience) and those who aren’t prepared, are more likely to fail. I agree that being around drunks often leads to more fighting. I worked Security for a number of years, and when alcohol was involved it was more a question of when a fight would happen, and not if

Great tips! For situations where the challenger is experienced and not inebriated, more experience and training is definitely needed (especially if / when you end up on the ground!). Your comment on doing what you can to avoid a fight is excellent! Situation dictates a lot, and if it’s you against multiple attackers, it may be better to get away if possible. Avoid a fight until it’s unavoidable, then do everything you can to come out on top, especially if you feel your life is in danger. Thanks for sharing!

Videos like this are golden. Ive only been in 1 street fight and its something I would not want to repeat. Thinking of the legality of what could happen. I worked many years in a county jail and one time I was shoved from behind on the street after the guy shoulder butted me walking from the other direction. Needless to say didnt end well for him. I dont care for fighting and what I did was reactive and I had witnesses from the bar this guy left from (bouncers). This guy was drunk/high and was having a bad day after bouncers kicked him out of the bar. I wish I would have learned more from my grandfather who was a Golden Gloves boxer.

My father stated the following. One hit, just one hit to someones temple , you kill somebody and you’re going to jail. The same is true for your own life as well. Just stuff to ponder if you’re considering not walking away from a fight.

Other guy persist and the marine says ok and puts his hands up as if to box and in a flash thumb gouges the guy hard in his eyeball. I can't validate this story but what I take it as is, walk away. You may not just get knocked out...

never shake hands with trash. Distance.
@Randy-ul5hy
@Randy-ul5hy 2 місяці тому
One point here that is critical..before you put your hands up, make sure that you have already stepped back and created the safe distance. If you put those hands up and you are within your opponents attack range, then your opponent thinks you are ready and wanting to fight and may respond before you have a chance to realize ...as he sees this as a threatening body movement.

Yes if one person's foot is off of the ground nine times out of 10 they're not trained at a high enough caliber to counter punch while they're stepping so as soon as that foot comes off the ground and they go to motion forward watch the shoulders because the shoulders normally dipped before they punch and watch the hip sh there's a middle step in between that but for the most part the eyes and where your eyes are shifting to the glands before they punch there and yeah that's about what I know pressure points in arteries

You are the pro boxer and I am just an ordinary black belt, but i have doubts about your advice. tackle the guy? do you really want to be on the ground with a bigger, stronger, more aggressive guy? he might get on top of you and really pound you, or he might have friends. Long lead right hook? fine if you're a pro. tho even a pro might break his hand socking someone in the chops w/o taped up hands. Mike Tyson did. More likely the punch will miss, or not be powerful enough. I like the spinning back kick. Very few people even know what it is so they don't expect it. And it will drop almost anyone, esp. if you hit them just below the belt. The Muey Thai heavy round kick is another real stopper. of course, kicks and punches both take a lot of practice.
@ziggy979
@ziggy979 Місяць тому
The spinning back kick I learned while taking martial arts with Chuck Norris studio in Los Angeles. Once I learned that kick I was amazed at the amount of travel you get from the moves. It looks so very different/odd that most dudes may not even recognize it. The momentum from the moves upon impact can send a guy flying and busted up .very powerful. Uses big muscles of the legs and motion.
@PurposePlastics
@PurposePlastics 21 день тому
You my friend are a thinker! I also like to teach my girls the spinning back elbow, for guys grabbing their waist. The one where he suggest going to body hooks when missing the first punch and ending up in a thai plum seems like asking for trouble, Once you have them in a clinch, it’s time for elbows, Knees and headbutts
@RequiemsFall
@RequiemsFall 3 дні тому
Spinning back kick is basically a moving donkey kick. Any momentum added by the attacker is amplified by the impact of the inertia of the kicking action. Your base is solid, anticipating contact, and the attacker is moving toward the defensive move, exponentially amplifying the impact. Basically, a piece of fruit heading towards a brick wall, in rapid fashion...
@alexmousley7213
@alexmousley7213 Місяць тому
That looks like a BJJ takedown in number one. Geoff Thompson emphasised the need for deception then attacking. I'm less likely to use fists and more knees and elbows, which deliver more power and are less expected than fists (and elbows can be delivered at close range).

This is not just the only problem how to win a street fight against a big guy. The actual problem indeed the biggest problem is that how to handle the upcoming consequences after defeating the bad man and he would come back with other 5-6 gang members with baseball bats to settle that unfinished business with you.

Coach i have a question.In the 2nd scenario when we pretend that we go away and we come back with right hook,why needs to be right hook and not left jab with small step?I mean this looks much quicker with jab...It have to do just with power of the punch or is something else?Thanks

Seen a fight in outskirts of Glasgow pub, which ended up in a 'square go' outside....when the 2 of them went outside the smaller one went into the fight stance and started bobbing on his feet duking and diving.....The other guy just held his hands up and walked away...Which was just as well really as the short guy had been a successful amateur and now trainer!

Way back in college, I knew someone who was in the Marines and then went to college. One time we were discussing fighting (if you ever have to), and he said stiffen your hand and jab them the fingers hard in the throat. I've never had to do that, but it's always in the back of my mind.

You might win fight but lose in court if people recording and can cost aloooooot of money and jail time & he might has nice or his friend. And if he shake hand and hit him very disrespectful or cawerd act . It's good to win mentally and physically then win win situation. Winning carma is very important too sir. & Winning against own low frequency too.

I'm not a professiona(trained)l fighter or a boxer and I have indulged in many street fights for years,in some of the fights,I have won and the other person ran away.On the other hand,some of my fights ended with no result and some people started to stop us but the ones who saw me fighting told me that you fought really good.Some of my rules are following: 1:You should be confident and not fear from your enemy. 2:You should attack first and not give the other for reaction or hitting time. 3:As street fights are not like boxing fights which include the referee who can stop you,so you should not stop and hit with all of your courage.❤❤❤
