The thing that really gets me is "make your good love known to me, just tell me about your day." Man just wanted to be able to talk with his love, but she's cold and unresponsive bc of this horrible sadness and emptiness that grips her like the grave. He's lamenting her lost spark, and he's praying for it to return. Easily the most haunting and tragic love song ever written.
