I so agree 💯 When I first heard" Take me to Church" a scrolled through all the controversial comments and couldn't believe the indifference ! How the lack of a greater understanding can bring about such divide. All I could say was the following. The most valuable thing that music is, Is different. Oftentimes a song comes out before a video is produced. And everyone that hears it may interpret something different He wrote this song , So his collaboration in this video is what makes it All the more amazing. He was able to convey the true meaning behind the lyrics. Which in my opinion shows the brilliance behind the artist. Particularly in this video with this song because it could have went so many different directions , I feel it was completely masterful How the video conveyed the raw truthfulness of the exact meaning in which the song was written

@thrall1342Рік тому
@@wayverleesoulsong I'm very sorry that you don't see the benefit of living with other people. A good spouse for example can get you the satisfaction of having conquered the hardships of life together for dozens of years. That's something a pet will never be able to give you. It might adore you for a limited time, but it can never truly share in your life.
@QuicklyLiquidРік тому
I suppose context may be important to his statement here! The thread of thought was, if I remember correctly, on what to do in this culture of hyper (although certainly performative at times) activism. You cannot do it all, so his remark "solidarity costs nothing" is more to do with allowing space for the suffering of others- not turning a blind eye, as it were

i love a lot of the ideas he talks about in here. "solidarity costs nothing" is not one of the ones I liked. someone who can believe that "solidarity costs nothing" has never sacrificed for the good of those they claim to support. that is not solidarity, that is platitude.
@mayaenglish54243 місяці тому
I think what he meant was, with the position he's in, him having solidarity for people really doesn't hurt him and so being praised for it when to him it's basically a no brainer feels weird. Like it's not a big sacrifice for him specifically. It's the difference between say, somebody who's broke giving a friend 80$ they can't really afford to give up in order to help them out in a tough situation vs somebody who's living comfortably doing the same thing. They are both committing the same action and being good friends, but one of them is suffering for it and the other isn't. Sometimes your position in life can facilitate your inherent goodness and make it easier to help people. For someone who is humble that would feel as though they aren't really "Doing" anything because it wasn't really a sacrifice. (Which I get, but also think is silly, doing good is doing good, all the better if you don't have to suffer while doing it!)
