After the capture of Bakhmut by russians, the Ukrainian army is on counter-offensive on the city outskirts in order to encircle the enemy in the destroyed city. This operation is lasting more than a month. Battles take place for each height around Bakhmut. Nastya Stanko and Kolyan Pastyko witnessed the storming of russian positions by the 225th battalion of the Kharkiv Territorial Defense, north of the city near the Sloviansk-Bakhmut highway. A few days before, the fighters of this unit had already had a successful counteroffensive, after which they took prisoners from the "Veterans" PEC.
Everyone is taking part in the second assault: the n**ew troops and those who were in the previous battle, wounded in it, and returned to the formation. The battalion works under the command of the 56th Brigade of the Armed Forces, which helps them with heavy artillery. But the Territorial Defense soldiers have mortars of their own as well as a well-coordinated air reconnaissance team. hromadske witnessed how many people and means are involved in an assault on russian positions, where the target is 300 m of commanding height.

Those few guys commanding from the bunker have to bear terrible moments, silently, remotely, powerless, sometime witnessing the loss of guys they were just speaking with some hours before. I can feel they are reluctant to exchange with others. We are allowed to see the bright side here but those chilling faces are terrifying. I wish them to find joy in life after this. The attitude of the assault battalion is incredible. They look like US Marines in WWII footages. Fearless, professionals. Real fighters.

Fantastic reporting! It captures what it is like to want to be free and how they keep living even in war. It is clear Russia has not broke the will of the people. All Ukrainians understand there is no other option but to fight to survive. They have suffered so much, they deserve justice!
