I’m just a badminton enthusiast and no more. Based on my observations, I was trying to be objective and not be negative nor critical of her playing style or technique. (After all, TTY, is the best of the best in the world) Had she kept the shuttle in play and not going for risky shots, for clear winners and let her opponent played another one or two more shots, her percentage of winning that particular point, will be much improved. Below is a general summation of TTY’s unforced errors:- 1st game - 13 (TTY lost 14-21) 2nd game - 4 (TTY won 21-8) 3rd game - 12 (TTY won 21-19) Had she been able to reduce 50% of these UE, on Games 1 & 3, respectively, she would beaten the screaming opponent easily, and not given me a heart attack, watching the third and final set!!!🤣🤣👏👏

It's about fundamental and honorable sportsmanship... TTY has it but not Marin.

Tai Tzu Ying, doesn't have Olympic or WC gold medal, But she has been the longest running number 1.. Around 150 weeks in total, and still counting. She has 12 World Tour Titles, 8 runner-ups 12 Superseries Titles, 6 Runner-ups. That includes 3 All England Gold And 3 World Tour Finals Gold. It's true that Marin has an Olympic Gold Medal, And 3 WC medals But Tai Tzu Ying also possesses achievements that Marin doesn't have. So it's up to their consistency as being world number 1 To determine who is really the better player among these 2 top players.. Marin has peaked as number 1 in 2015, But she only reigned for 50ish weeks. Compare that to Tai Tzu Ying who has 150 weeks, and still counting.

I think many of the people don't like marin not because of the fact that she is European but she always try to irritate her opponents by the delay in receiving end, unnecessary extreme loud screaming, asking for the shuttle change most of the time or go to wipe her hands when her opponent has scored a couple of points in a row. She want to win a match at any cost even she didn't mind to execute unfair things. This is dirty. She can be an Olympian gold medalist, but she should be more clean in her sportsmanship and she need to show respect to her opponent. Winning is important but gaining respect as a good player is a completely different thing.

They call her a "dog", publicly say they want her to get injured or lose her voice, and much more. You are not one of these people (I hope) but there is a lot of evidence that there a lot of people who are like this. (Including the people who like such comments). As for supporting "bad" behaviors. I agree that her approach is to intimidate and annoy her opponents, but there are so many players on the circuit that celebrate when their opponents make an unforced error. Some players that come to mind are Langdridge, Sukomuljo, P.V Sindhu, H.K Vittinghus, Blichfeldt, Ivanov, and his partner. and etc. There are actually many more, and most of the players mentioned above displayed this behavior during these last 3 weeks. They celebrate because THEY THINK that their pressure CAUSED the unforced errors. Again, I think it's okay to dislike Marin for her behavior, I'm more of an Okuhara fan myself, but calling her a bad person for it, and wishing bad things for her is uncalled for, and not nice. Sorry for the long essay, I just wanted to articulate my perspective.

Sadly Marin will not change. Makes it so hard to like her. Its especially irritating since all other female players are humble and polite.

You can not like Marin for shouting and her attitude, but both are great players and you can’t say who is more mentally strong when Marin beats her two times out of three games in the last three weeks. Don’t forget that Marin had an injury and after she came back 6 months later, she won her second tournament and beats the best player in the world again. I think that’s also a definition of a fighter, because she didn’t give up. It sounds like you just see how she acts on the court and don’t think about her hard work over the last years✌🏻

Bud TTY lost two finals in the last three weeks, I don't think you have enough conclusive evidence to say TTY is stronger mentally. Technique wise I would agree, but you, along with most people in the youtube comment section, take away from Marin's Badminton ability because they find her irritating. I get that people find her annoying, but she is one of the best in the world and I would say has THE strongest mentality amongst female badminton circuit considering her performance in the last two weeks, and the fact that she came back strong from an ACL rupture.
