@@b00gi3eah but... ... at least the shit had to be played by competent musicians, well ..musicians who knew one end of a guitar from the other...most of them could count to 4 ! ...and land pretty much nearly one the one !..without the quantise button !!..ok 1s and 0s were creeping into music but in an expensive and quite creative way ( the mighty Fairlight ) and early sequencers drum machines and those ridiculous bassline bass imitatorthings tb-something 3-0-something or other ♻️ ! were so clunky, non intuitive or just inauthentic they spawned (and continue to create) their own genre of quite amazing music rather than putting drummers out of work but by the time autotune made it possible for its (almost) nemesis the very infamous sam fox to pull in the shillings/be exploited it was the beginning of the end ,or the end of something for sure Its no coincidence that the introduction of tech and specifically digital tech around the 80s has all of us that were alive and many that werent putting music from the 70s on a pedestal and bemoaning the loss of what was seemingly so abundant back then . I do wonder if the digits hadnt encroached on music or were found too crude or it all happened 20 or.30.years later what the 90 and 00s would have produced . No Soft Cell but what would creativity and musicianship have bubbled up instead ? Its so bad now that i even hanker after those 'top of the pops' records (the worst example imho of 70s playing ) The TOTP band, nothing to do with the bbc singles chart program TOTP, but riding high on their uncopyrighted coatails , bought 12 current chart singles and being good musos in a day or two covered each one as close to the original as poss and released them on the thinnest bendiest bit of vinyl ever for less than a quid iirc Some sounded ok some were shite and i hated them at the time bc they seemed to sound on point apart from the 'life' or grunt or something original that made the original song original (terrible 'splaining )was missing . Even tho as an aspiring musician myself i was, at the same time, in awe of their obvious all round skill. This is the worst type of commercially available music i can think of from that era.but somehow i wish it still existed in some form today just to show folk you needed to do work to have your chops before you (or the person playing your part in the wings ) could access that hallowed arena of success , horrible tawdry nickel plated success .Hollow it def was from the inside The music biz is a fucking blood sucking talent squashing vampire but on some level you had to get in there or be unseen to most music aficionados. .doesnt matter if your elton john or keith jarret it is or was a necessary evil . Its modern day 'downtrodden person makes good and is golden for 5 mins on saturday tv' is even more creepy but somehow.makes a virtue of its shallow shitness so perhaps isnt as bad ...even tho it does seem to burn its talented tender little moths to a crisp in its white heat of tv fame flame just as it did back then . Caveat Lector. ...ok ..who put me on that soapbox ...shit.. .Hello again. Sorry for all the bla bla blabber.. .if you made it this far you should be doing a ba in music history or you have, like me , too much time on your hands... E&OE

The flute has a reputation for being a timid or thin-sounding instrument, but Hubert Laws singlehandedly disproves this erroneous assumption! His sound is powerful without being shrill or distorted. His band is killin’ it too! I honestly did not expect this album to hit as hard as it does, but it was a very pleasant surprise!
