They spawn in specific biomes, for example in the old growth pine taiga a black wolf spawns, in the jungle a spotted wolf spawns. He made a new video about it (if is not spawning in any biome where a unique dog spawns it will be the default)

@CringyGull make sure to heal your dogs. Also armadillos spawn in mesa biomes. Take home one and name it sandrew. ( it's a pokemon based of armadillo.)
