I really love the budget keyboard videos. It just shows how most of us can actually get a pretty decent mechanical board without having to spend a couple of hundred dollars to get started, as long as we're willing to do a tiny bit of really easy mods. Sure, the more premium customs are great too, but when I watch those vids, it's with the knowledge that I will likely never own that board because it's just going to be out of my budget. These are more of the ones I can actually afford, so thanks, Hipyo!

This keyboard is absolutely awesome. Despite being a plastic board, it's one of the best ones I've felt. The round borders of the keyboard makes it feel good to the touch compared to those sharp acrylic or metallic border ones. It feels like a toy in a good way because it's welcoming you to use it and carry it around. It sounds fantastic. The wireless features are nice to use and feel fun with the light indicators between the arrow keys and fn key. It's good for gaming, even rhythm games play well without any chord split. No matter what people say... to me, this keyboard is the best purchase of 2023. Just swap the stabs, they suck

This was the first "barebones" I bought (after tearing apart several cheap mechs). I've since bought several barebone kids (both expensive and cheap, like this) and I keep coming back to how much value you get for the price. Is it lightweight and cheap? Does it feel cheaper than it looks? Does the software suck? Yes...across the board...but, as you showed, a little bit of modding and you have a surprisingly good plastic mech. I have 3 with various degrees of modding and they're often the ones I show to people to give them an idea of how cheap you can get into the hobby. You can usually only get the Black or white for $22 on the SuperDeals, I've never seen the other colors below around $35. I've built 4 of these so far and all had some plastic between the PCB and foam which I left after poking hole through. I did have to lube the stabs and one I did the tempest mod but didn't need to as it sounded great without it. With Morandi or Milky Yellows it's quite and deep but with say Cream Blue Pros it's very poppy. Super fun builds for cheap, glad you finally built one out as well.
@someonewrites9657
@someonewrites9657 5 місяців тому
hii, this is my frist time building a custom keyboard and i also used this same exact board. You mentioned that this board had some plastic between the PCB and the foam and i wanted to ask, i was modding my stabilizers and ofc the noobie that i am, it still had some rattle on them. Therefore, I've redone lubing the stabs and wires 4 times but it still had some rattle sound but the more I inspect it and hear it, it sounded like the plastic?? I feel like i'm losing my mind, i am so unsure whether i still messed up modding the stabilizers or it has something to do with the plastic. If its okay i wanted to ask, does the plastic have an effect to that "rattle" like sound i'm hearing after lubing the stabs and wires? If so, is it removable and should i remove it? (i haven't seperated the PCB, foam and all that jazz since i don't have the right screwdriver at the moment)
@MarbsMusic
@MarbsMusic 5 місяців тому
@@someonewrites9657 Hipyo could probably shed more light than I can but I wouldn't think the thin layer of plastic would effect the stabs because it would be below where they are mounted. I guess technically it could but I would guess the rattle is coming from them not fitting tightly. While I haven't had that issue on this board I have had a few others were they just didn't fit snugly and that caused a rattle even if lubed properly. I believe you can get film that will fit in between and help that but I haven't used it. I just bought some better stabilizers I found on sale somewhere.

Once you mod them, they're both great choice, especially the TES84, and I don't see much point in spending hundreds more when I feel like each improvements is so small. I believe this is the cheapest keyboard on Aliexpress (nothing cheaper is worth it). I'm using it with Akko Air, and I don't feel the need to lubricate the switches. My keyboard is stock and I believe it is only necessary to modify the stabilizers.

I got my for 31usd off the "Superbuy" part of the home page. That was the lowest I saw it but I also didn't buy it during a sale like 11.11. Black or White were my only options, the coloured cases were quite a bit hit more money.

Alis is like the cheapest option for me (brazilian) to even build custom keyboards, even with our newly crazy import taxes, it's still cheaper to buy from ali than any other online seller, specially local ones (which only have tacky black gamer keyboards and none are too cheap). Unfortunately even your budgets keyboards come across to me a LOT expensive due to currency exchange ;v; but nonetheless it's always pleasant to see your budget keyboards videos cause they are barely the only thing I can afford anyway so

From what I can see, the gaskets on the top cover are either less effective or serve no purpose, due to the plastic bits protruding down which may contact the plate. Had the same issue with my TH80 and ended up just cutting out all the unnecessary plastic bits.

This review and the comments are so lukewarm about this board but I've had it for months now and I absolutely love it. I didn't mod it, didn't feel a need to (I have Bobagums in it for those curious) and its pretty damn quiet (which is also exactly what I wanted). I cannot FATHOM what a keyboard would have to be or do to justify $100+ when this keyboard exists. I mean, I get that the form factor might not be to some people's preference but if you're looking for a 65%, by comparison to the GMK67, any other keyboard is just a rip off.

I wholeheartedly agree with you! I lubed the stabs and did the tempest tape mod and I can't justify buying anything more expensive with how great this is! I think I will buy a second (black, my first is white) where I will put some nice linear switches (I have baby kangaroos in the first one and love them!) if I want to get a different feel for typing every once in a while.

New Editor is fine: There is a slight difference in the comedic timing of the cuts, but the only reason I noticed that is because you said it was a new editor and I was paying attention ... I wouldn't say this was better than your self-editing, but it also wasn't worse (which I guess is exactly what you want, if you are looking for someone to help you edit, without changing the tone of your content).

I've not watched keeb videos for over 6 months. I'm noticing new switches with diffusers built into them, which should really improve the RGB. When I try looking for them, listings don't appear to specifically say if they do or do not include diffuser. Also, are any diffusers being sold separately that I can order so I can install them into the switches I already have?

@RavenWindrunner Hi I'm the same person who typed this(yes I have 2 accounts). The durock stabs is usable but recommend to use the washer to screw it in as the PCB is very thin, also yes the fitting will be only troublesome when trying to fit to the PC plate. And forgot to mention that I added 2 layer tape mod and stock foams(pe foam, case foam, poron plate foam).
