I lived in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe for 30 years. My opinion is that it is impossible to "integrate" Africans into Western societies - we are too different and attempting it will inevitably lead to tensions and possibly conflict.

@@no-oneman.4140 The measure has just been introduced by Sainsbury's (one of the largest supermarket chains) where you have to scan the barcode of the receipt on a reader before the exit gates from the self-service checkout area will open. Yes, I've seen the guys (and girls) on the news; one this evening claimed she had to shoplift because her boyfriend was a drug addict. He could get off drugs or she could find another boyfriend. It is a question of fairness. UK taxpayers pay into society and, in return, receive certain benefits. When people illegally enter the country and are gifted benefits, funded by the taxpayers of that country, it causes huge resentment. In many cases they are gifted more benefits (24hr access to a doctor, 3* hotels with no energy bills to worry about). This is not racism. It would not matter whatever the ethnic background of the illegals. Would we react the same if the illegals were white, Christian Canadians? I am sure we would. We pay tax in expectation of a social contract with our Government that provides us with, not least, protection of our borders and a duty to spend the taxes that we pay wisely and fairly.

The longer the failure to enforce the law, the failure to carry out the first duty of government, goes on the worse the considiton of the social contract. The more reason every citizen has to consider their government incompetent and harmful to them. And the more reason for every citizen to become both entirely lawless and extremely active in defending themselves, their property, and their nation. In other words, the more governments fail to defend the borders the more the nation slips towards mass lawlessness and civil war.

Speaking in my capacity as an on-line know-all, it's NOT impossible to enforce the law. All it takes is a government with a spine. There are many islands and isolated areas in Europe (and plenty off islands off the UK shoreline) and there's nothing to stop governments building camps there to hold these people. Give them the choice to stay there until their individual cases are processed, however long that takes, or get a trip home on the taxpayer (that would still be much cheaper than housing them in hotels). If you stand your ground and keep building and filling these camps, it won't be long before the migrants -- who are nearly all economic -- get the message and will stop coming. By the way, the NGOs ARE people smugglers.

Cindy says that 70% of Hong Kongers holding degrees, speak English, just sell the Hong Kong flats and buy a London Apartment. They are essentially British (because we were there a quarter of a century ago). 20 minutes later she is in Leeds with Hong Kongers who can't speak English, don't have degrees and are in need of Tax Payers assistance. No mention that they will obviously be setting up a China Town in Leeds where it will be possible to function in Cantonese with no English. Of course the Hong Kong Triads will have remained in Hong Kong. None of them will be CCP spies or susceptible to pressure from the CCP to assist the CCP.

For contrast, pick any African or Middle Eastern young male Muslim immigrant, who refuses to integrate. Multiply this example by many hundreds of thousands. Imagine the utter chaos emanating from these ghetto communities, no-go zones. How many more decades of this mayhem before we wind up with an indigenous population that refuses tolerance for, or acceptance of an invasion that has taken over their homeland?

I agree wholeheartedly with Douglas Murray. Preventing or at least slowing illegal migration is not an insoluable problem. There simply isn't any political will to ameliorate the situation. Once these people have arrived and 'settled' in the countries that they have selected for themselves (their choice being unimpeded, demonstrably, by their hapless 'host' country), they seem to do nothing but make further problems and can only sing the praises of their home country, their 'heritage' - notwithstanding the fact that these are the very places they clearly thought so intolerable that they had to leave them. If those who dissent from the regimes that they claim are oppressing them (the only legitimate basis for claim to asylum elsewhere) simply leave and relocate, their home countries will never improve. It is their patriotic duty to resist oppression and improve their own states - of which they never cease being proud. People say these refugees are resilient and courageous - but they are all apparently in flight from challenges, opting for a soft-touch easier life, usually at someone else's expense.

Our mistake was to ignore that integration is an *active process*, much like learning. One could "be welcomed" (like a guest). But one cannot "be integrated", only integrate oneself. If you don't want to learn a language, culture, system of norms, traditions, values and laws etc., then nobody can teach you. But integrating is hard and all incentives for it are undermined, when you can simply join your own foreign enclave.
