Blitz there is a new tool in the bottom right, the pliers. Let you separate pipes and wires without needing to disassemble it and rebuild.

you dont need to get the the metal refinery for refined metals. you can use the rock crusher to make refined metals and it uses less power and makes less heat. the only thing you really need the metal refinery for is steel.

You get better conservation of mass with metal refinery. Iirc 10 kg of ore through refinery makes 10kg of refined metal, and crusher takes the same 10 kg and only gives 5kg of refined metal. If power and heat are concerns, smooth hatches are always an option.

not true, the rock crusher sucks at making refined metal because it gives you half the amount for the same ore. it will slowly drain your ore supply without you noticing and make everything harder. (talking from experience)

@@Petardeldel I just use it early on though for what I need then when I have the means to get a system of cooling for the refinery I go to that. but I always have trouble keeping that damn thing cool and it ends up bursting my pipes with steam when it overheats. I mostly like the early game here as I just dont understand how to use all the gates and such to make complicated circuits. I have tried to learn by watching videos but mostly just do very very simple things.

One tip I always follow? I NEVER take any dupe that only has one skill. Sure, they start strong, but they dont get the job happiness bonus. Consider one skill typically boosts 2-3 or even more skill assignments. That means a single dupe that starts with a high skill has same top cap for skill level, but their stress total might be five or more points higher. Making stress management that much more difficult.

Dalton would not have gotten stuck if you'd let him finish! You should check out the ways dupes can move, I've found that knowledge far more useful especially when digging out areas and building complicated machines

Also a carbon skimmer is far cheaper than a gas pump, and the water doesn't get germs when it becomes polluted if you want to reuse it if it doesn't contact germs, so sent water to skimmer to sieve to make them self sustained, would actually be far cheaper long term than the gas pump you're running atm It produces just as much polluted water as water so no maintenance required!

So if Heat is a worry, you can make an ice machine to make ice, then make temp plates of Ice in the water supply to rapidly cool it.

Drop water over machines to cool them so use mesh tiles then pump on bottom level to recirculate it back up

There is a tool for disconnecting wires, pipes etc. You don’t have to dele and rebuild them.

I don’t know if this would work in the game, but a good idea probably is to build a shaft to the surface cause heat rises so heat from the generators and the smelter should rise up and out of the base

I don't know if this is true or not.. But some type of planet, has hot space, so your gonna cook your base instead.. Yeah, it's kind of weird.. But, the other problem is you still have to close the shaft, because if not, all of your gases gonna float to space, and obviously you will need to dig across hostile biomes before reaching space.
