The Vatores in my Sims-verse are somewhat estranged. Caleb could not cope with Lily's deeper embrace of her vampirism. So he has distanced himself some, but vowed largely to not get in her way. Vlad on the other hand, now sees Lily as a potential long term threat. As he has no desire to see the rekindling of large vampire families like that Lily is aiming to create, and the violent blood feuds they often make (see; vampire lore in Sims 3). Vlad openly enjoys the relative peace and quiet of the Hollow, and being the undisputed master of what he sees as his realm. Sure, the dev team may not have given us a ton of lore for Forgotten Hollow, but the few pieces they did offer are interesting ones. - Caleb and Lily's Aspirations are diametrically opposed. Caleb wants to live quietly alongside humans as a "good vampire." A hidden immortal. While Lily is keen on creating an entire brood of fledglings. - There's a small (frankly ugly) house near the Vatore residence. It's oddly not occupied but it looks as if the former tenant was a tad obsessed with vampires. This is a perfect setting for a paranormal investigator or similar entity out to learn the truth of the Hollow. - And then there's Vlad himself. While he's most likely destined to play the villain in just about anyone's playthrough, he's left very open for interpretation by the player. I've actually played the man extensively, so he's now quite powerful. In my playthrough, he is a politician (cause that fits, right?) and has a wife. He deeper undercover than you'd expect. The hidden slightly sympathetic villains are usually some of the best written.

Ah, the magic of Sims and story generators... They let one make their own variants of how things happen using nothing but the very gameplay itself. I understand. I don't exactly know the story behind EA's version (not that big of a social media user and the info in the game is non-existent). EA's win and lose is that we were given nothing but "people came to found a new town, all died except for Vlad who drank, ahem, for unknown reasons, then he turned Lilith, who eventually turned Caleb". At least it's better than the Moocasters from Werewolves. You can't break what doesn't exist, I guess. To me, lore is the rules of how a world works and historical events that made it what it is now. Your story is not lore. Your story is the story. If you go back to the start of the game (aka a fresh save file) you won't find any children of the Vatores, nor any of your sims. Could work if they all died in the end, and that end being the beginning of the game. At least that's what the term lore implies, I am not against your creativity. As for the official lore itself it is never explained where the vampire curse came from (was Vlad bitten by some bat, possibly experimented on by spellcasters? After all, Werewolves used Realm of Magic content, why not use it here (and I know Realm of Magic came after Vampires, but it could at least be hinted that something magical was involved)?), we never find out about all these graves around Vlad's mansion (by the way, in the game Vlad is named Vladislaus Straud IV, which is actually accurate since Victorian era was in 1830-1900, which is easily 4 generations, so good job on that, Maxis), and who is that mysterious Vasmer Balke who never appears in the game though seem to know everything about Vampires, including the damn vampire cure (no, seriously, how does a man who wasn't the first among vampires, who Vlad doesn't know (not even a ghost) and doesn't make any remark on, knows this impossible knowledge?). This is lore, this is what I was expecting. Not a love story about what happened after the fact. So, so far I have an idea that in the Forgotten Hollow's cave (near the bridge) lived a rogue spellcaster, one who wanted recognition, power, something like that. During the initial exploration of the Forgotten Hollow (it may have had a different name back then, and since there's a statue of Vlad in the center I believe the name had to do something with the name Straud, like Straudville or something) Vlad met the spellcaster and they had a deal. One gets to train some forbidden magic and the other gets to experience the new spellcaster power. Things didn't go well and Vlad died in that encounter. Either waking up on his own or being further experimented on Vlads becomes a vampire and kills the spellcaster in revenge. Hence we have a glowing tombstone which looks somewhat magical on an island in the middle of a lake. His followers, the other founders of Forgotten Hollow learned about this and some got mad at Vlad for murdering someone and others asked him to share his powers. Among them you can see the characters from the trailer. Eventually Vlad got rid of all of them one by one due to being an evil loner. I'd say he wanted a life alone, away from the stresses of the world. Or maybe it was some love story where everyone died in the end. Thus we get all these tombstones around Vlad's house. One day Vatores move in, Vlad turns Lilith, Lilith turns Caleb and they both realize that vampires can kill. So, not wanting to be like Vlad they take a "vegetarian" route which angers Vlad but not enough to do anything about it. That's a quick idea of what a lore should be like, again I am not against gameplay-made stories but that's just isn't what lore is. If I were to redo Vampire's lore I would have to heavily mod the game, edit the map of Forgotten Hollow, change some in-game paintings, create the hidden world where the spellcaster used to live and all that. I can't be bothered learning that much unfortunately. Just writing texts based on what we have in game and in the trailer won't really fix it that much. I have to say, Vampires is not only the best Sims 4 pack for my subjective reasons (objectively it's far from that), but it's also the pack that kept me playing all these years. New packs come out and I never get to care. Even Werewolves - an occult pack with industrial, one of my favorite types of architecture couldn't give me the same feelings. If anything, Werewolf curse seem to be an actual curse, not giving any new powers to a sim that would really be impactful, getting a "turn against your will and do nothing for a night ability" while having half of the perk tree being based around mitigating the downsides of the transformation - did not work for me. Maybe I'll warm up to it later, but so far Vampires is the only pack I actually care about, even though I see no point in paying for it since the base game is still suffering from an open beta quality. So that's what makes me sad: you have an emotional attachment with your story, my text is just a random comment from a noname who couldn't figure out how to play an old smart game, if I want my words to have any meaning to you, I'll probably have to release the pack overhaul I described above. I am curious what you think about my idea for the lore though...
