As someone who had two cars stolen in Italy, 74 Fiat 500 and BMW 745, I can attest to this. Nothing gets done from 12-2 which actually means an hour or so before and after those times. It took me over an hour every month to deposit the rent into my landlords bank account.

Apparently, there was another car, an F50, that was stolen in Italy in 2003, went to Japan, then to Canada, where it was sold to someone in Florida. The car was intercepted before it entered the US, with sketchy in modifications. They still do no not know who legally owns the car.

Also Japanese police are EVERYWHERE. I've had to pop in to one of the "koban" boxes before over a lost passport. Friendliest cops I've ever dealt with. They all have their "japanese to english police phrasebook". And a decent sense of humor. He'd have very easily been able to rectify the issue.

Someone should open a company to buy ownership of insurance losses. Find leads and take ownership of the vehicles. Pricing for claims will be adjusted to make sure it's not worth exploiting this system.

Interesting there are 3 F40s listed for sale here in Japan now but one is in Shizuoka, one is in Nagoya, and the last one is in Saitama. I wonder if any of these are it. None in Osaka though

Offices close in Italy from 1 to 4pm, no siesta time. The majority of people in Italy don't insure car against theft. Most likely the car wasn't stolen for real, but part of fraud.

Remember coming off a ferry in Hamburg,Germany in 1996,we just cleared town and i saw a F40...signalled to my mate who was on a Honda CBR900RR,who took off after it to have a look,a wee puff of blue smoke,and the Ferrari fucked off into the horizon...only 1 of 2 i've ever seen on the road,the other stuck in traffic on the bridge at Bordeaux,France!

Contacting the police in Italy if they would answer the phone they wound do nothing, I think the best one to contact was Ferrari customer care they would know the buyer and have a phone to contact him and say to him they found it

I remember being in northern Italy in the early 90s and there was still snow on the ground in mid April and in the rest area off the autostrada there was a F-40 and a Testarossa with road grim all the way up the sides of the cars. Still laugh about that because you’d never see that here in the states.

Do you know how tamper proof odometers were pre 2000 ? .... a guy who ran an import shop from 1970s to 2010 had a set of homemade tools to access different odometers on rear/mid engine cars.if you buy a vehicle based on mileage you better be really lucky to get an accurate car

7:17- for a pair of IHI RHB52 turbos? I swap these things all the time on yanmar engines. They don’t cost any more than 5k on the high end.IHI does make some terrible turbos so I don’t doubt they broke.

Wasn't it like couple of years ago they found that Ferrari rolls back the odometers. You bring your car to Italy to be serviced and for a fee of course your car was barely driven. To me F40 with 40k miles or 4k miles is worth the same.
