I'm crap at golf but good at my day job I have taught many youngsters my trade. There's always a sense of satisfaction when they start to be able to do what they couldn't. And very occasionally you'll get "that" person who's skills surpass your own. As I've gotten older it no longer worries me as it means at least there's someone to pass my skills on after I'm gone. Anybody that loves what they do will derive great pleasure out of sharing their knowledge and skills with others.

It does demonstrate why the top tour pros can almost take good ball striking out of the equation and their focus then is on aim points, wind direction/speed, landing area etc whereas for club golfers we are struggling with ball striking and this brings such inconsistency on distance that those other things become a secondary concern. If there is one thing that I have garnered from this and some other videos I have seen recently is that until I improve my ball striking 500% there is little value on working on much else. All my range practice is on mats or even on a mat with a net and rudimentary swing monitor. I need to spend a heap of time in our club’s practice bunker drawing lines in the sand. Might get some odd looks from the members wondering why I’m not hitting balls out of there😅
@marccutirella
@marccutirella 5 місяців тому
that drill literally is the BIG reason between pros and amateurs. ive seen a lot of amateurs that putts like wizards but they are very inconistent with hitting the ball. being a consistent ball striker is imo more important than trying to be the best driver or putter itw. bc that can help u get eagle and birdie puts for every hole on the golf course

Right unique, wasn't it? So much fascinating stuff that I hadn't seen or heard quite that way before. Stating that every tour pro could make that pattern in the sand was edifying. That he could audibly detect the quality of strike on each shot was pretty amazing. Rick had some *beautiful* flight paths that garnered serious criticism. Such a cool look into - and from such a different angle - of how ridiculously good these guys are and how much work and how many reps there must have been for them to reach that level. And then Bryson, with his physics degree being able to look at things in such an objective and unique manner. Really makes me wonder how much interaction he's had with Mac O'Grady's ongoing "system". That now makes it clear to me who I'd like to see him give his next lesson to - Gary McCord. :-) Betting they could speak the same language. . .

Easily one of the best golf lessons I've ever watched. I have the same problem with thinning. Can't wait to practice this in the spring

The way BD analyses the minutest details, which all add up to a great swing is absolutely amazing.

Great to see a REAL Professional golfer actually taking time to have a channel and show simplicity in the swing.

Fantastic video, Bryson. Simple, but fundamental advice on how to strike the ball better. You aren’t my favourite player but to take the time to give the lesson, and show so much enthusiasm, big respect,👍🏻

I really enjoyed this video. It is super helpful for me as well because I am almost afraid of chewing up the golf course with divots so I tend to pick it or take very little divot. Looking forward to trying this at my next range session. Thanks guys! Looking forward to more content with the two of you!

Amazing. I had a lesson the other day and he told me the exact same thing. Not compressing the ball, I was just picking the ball. It’s comforting to know that a good golfer like Rick is doing the same (maybe to a lesser extent to me) shows how hard this game is. I’ll try that drill in the sand for sure👍🏻

Seeing Brysons enthuisasm when teaching Rick tells you a lot about what kind of person Dechambeu is. Top 5 in the world taking time to teach aaaaand being that into it in such a possitive and energetic way is just mindboggling. Great video Rick and thank you Bryson for sharing your knowledge and time. I guess there will be a lot of bunkers in play tomorrow for some ball striking exercise . 🏌🏌🏌🏌⛳
