How quickly the weather changes. In one day the temperature dropped by 20 degrees. Only during the day it was plus 30, and in the evening it got colder, a breath of coolness came in, and we finally took a deep breath. Already at night we closed all the windows because we were frozen, and in the morning we get up to plus 10.
We immediately felt autumn, which means it’s time to think about warm things. The hat is the thing that will be needed soon.
An alternative to store-bought models is a hand-sewn hat. Knitwear is the most suitable material for this.
I have a good pattern that can be used to sew a lovely little hat easily and quickly. Most importantly, it is comfortable and fits perfectly on the head.
- For cutting you will need one measurement - head circumference. Measured around the head along the line of the forehead and the most prominent point of the back of the head. I got 56 cm.
- Next, two stripes are cut out. Both are the same length, equal to the circumference of the head. The width is different: 18 and 12 cm.
- Now we need to cut out a circle - the bottom of the hat. Here we need to remember mathematics.
- To calculate the radius, you need to apply the formula R = 56 (OG): (2 x 3.14). Pi is a constant value equal to 3.14 cm. The resulting radius is equal to 8.9 cm.
If everything is done correctly, then all the parts will fit together exactly. The allowances are already included in the pattern.
- Folded the strips in half and stitched.
- The edge of the seam is on a narrow strip of overcast. I attached a circle to it and stitched it, finishing the edge with a zigzag.
- I folded the wide strip in half and stitched it to the first piece, aligning the seams and the edge of the overcast.
- Where the back seam is, I made a fold and sewed it manually at one point. Here you can sew on any decoration such as a brooch.
Ready.
- It will look original if you use tulle mesh here. You need to cut a strip of such width that it can be draped, this is about 20 cm. Overcast the edges.
- This detail can be made removable on the button or sewn to the back seam.
If you find it difficult to choose the right style of hat, try sewing it using this pattern, maybe this is what you need.
