I’m 67 and this is how I learned to can from my mother. Pour in boiling water to the rim (make sure the rim of the jar is squeaky clean). Close the lid very tight and then we turn the jar upside down before covering. I don’t know why we turn it upside down, but that’s how we do it. Then usually let it cool overnight. When you tap the lid, there should be no sound or no hollow sound to it. It should also not give way. That’s when it’s safe. The food keeps for years! And it has more nutritional value than when you pressure cook or waterbath it! My mother lived till 89, and I’m still alive and kicking at 67. So don’t think it’s not a ‘safe’ way of preserving. It’s the fast and easy way! Thank you for showing this. I am certainly going to try your lemonade! 🥰

Love your videos...Here's a tip: You can add flowers to the water such as Hibiscus, Rose, etc. Not only they add pleasing COLOR and AROMA to the drink, they are also therapeutic.

Adding Blue Butterfly pea flowers would be health beneficial as well, as would Rose Hips, ginger root, maybe some cinnamon sticks. Orange slices w/ lemon slices, cinnamon stick and some cloves and tea leaves heated when you want some is a delicious healthy tea when you feel you might be getting a cold or have a cold. whole raspberries or halved strawberries with lemon and lime is a good drink too. I also like to add lemon verbena, camomile flowers, violets, pansies, tangerine, kumquat but these are hard to find, real honey instead of sugar~sometimes, blueberries, I've made drinks with Honeydew , watermelon, blackberries, pears, persimmon... really the possibilities and combinations are endless. May have to try apple...kiwi didn't hold up though sadly...we drink the berry ones to fast to know if they would hold up for a long time, it's the same with pineapple & coconut just doesn't last long enough to know, lol
