My parent's neighbor had a miserable Husky because he was tied on a tree outside 24/7 and we live in one of the hottest city in Indonesia. 😢 I'd rather see him shaved or brought into the full AC homes instead of there. He died around 2012 IIRC. The owners never even took him for a walk, they only bought him to work as a security for the house (people rarely own dogs here because 90% are Muslims, the owners was Hindu). I feel so sorry for him (and this other German Shepherd mix they also had, who went through the same fate with the Husky...tied to another tree in their yards). (Pardon my limited English btw)

That thick undercoat is insulation that keeps them warm in the winter but it also helps keep them cool in the summer. The only reason they shaved this dog is because they don't want to deal with having to brush it's coat out and deal with the amout of hair it sheds
