A lodestone is for whenever you have a compass you placed the lodestone down and then you click it with your compass and then another Compass should pop up and then the air Compass will take you to that lodestone no matter where you are

The way to use a lodestone is by having a compass and smacking it and the compass will leed you to the lodestone

Use a compass left click on the load stone and the compass can point to the load stone. If you mine it put it down and use your compass left click it again.

you can connect a compass with the lodestone / the compas which if its loaded by the lodestone will show the place where your lodestone is placed (you can place it in your bace to know where it is)

You needed to put trapdoors on the edges of the spawning platform so the mobs will think that there is a block to walk on. Also, spiders need a 3x3, so you could've put theslabs every third block
