Props to the staff member for holding his ground and stepping up. " He probably got paid minimum wage...and he didn't run. He stayed there to point people to the direction of an exit". Fight or flight..and the guy chose to fight the only way he could by helping others to safety. A freakin' hero IMO.

A real man of honor. Everyone gets scared, but the ones who feel what others feel but stay and act valiantly are heros. Yes there's no opinion, Anyone that understands what it takes to feel immense fear in a life and death situation understand what character and grit this man has and is made of to stay.

my teacher’s best friend was one of the many shot and killed in this. i remember how tired she looked and at the end of the day (we had her last period) she was trying her best to hold back tears. we had never seen our teacher so vulnerable and distressed. she finally broke down when the entire class got up and hugged her in one big group hug. it just reminds us all that you’ll lose someone eventually, and it’s going to hurt. but at least there’s someone there that will comfort you.

God works thru people. I’d say he was trying to speak to her and let her know that what they were doing was bad, the decision to go there was the wrong path and he was trying to give her signals. I know if I make a choice to do something and it makes me feel instantly sick like that then I back up and do not go that direction. This is scary, poor thing I can’t imagine the fear. My cousin and her husband were going to go to this but my cousin said she just didn’t feel right about it so they ended up on the strip when the shots rang out so they bolted to their hotel and were held there for 72 hours after it happened. They used to go to Vegas once a year, they haven’t been back since.

"Survivorship bias or survival bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that made it past some selection process and overlooking those that did not, typically because of their lack of visibility. I was in a 4 hour lockdown at my university and I remember when it started people were running and screaming that there’s a shooter outside. For hours no one knew what was happening, rumors were flying, people were calling their parents and crying. No shots were fired that day but it was still terrifying. I remember thinking “oh my god we’re next. We’re the next shooting” and seeing something like this reminds me of how lucky I am when so many people haven’t been. I could not imagine the terror of a real shooting.

I guess the answer is try to stay calm in any situation so you can try to make the best decision in a situation where there is a lot of stress to fight or flight. This recounting of the mass shooting reminds of our current virus situation but a dragged out version...you know there's a danger but it's location is unknown and different people are telling you different "right" things to do and spreading "facts" that may or may not be true. In any case, you try to weed out the wrong facts and make the best decision in the best time. And of course, many things are out of our control. So i just mentally prepare myself for whatever outcome comes because there is no point in trying to control what you cannot.

I remember having a lot of weird and angry feelings while visiting a family. Something was off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It is why we get those feelings. It is weird how we pick up those hints
@KateCarew

MissMoontree we really do, and I tell my kids all the time that our inner voice, our Jiminy Cricket always tells us what we need to hear and if we don’t listen that voice will go silent then we are LOST. I remind my 16 year old that if she gets a vibe or gut instinct follow it, that I’ll always come get her and even if she’s afraid she’s going to miss out on fun it’s not worth your safety. So you were wrong and everting was fine? Awesome for the others but if your guts were right it’s better to high tail it and be grateful your instincts are so honed. Of course she never tells me things until a while later but she’s dodged some bad scenes and I hope we all remind ourselves to leave when we know we should.

I remember this. I live in Vegas and it was the y’all of the school. My teacher said he was going to miss Monday. He came back Tuesday and explained that he was part of the shooting and was willing to explain. My heart dropped at that moment. His daughter was supposed to go to that but he didn’t want her to come because of school and he was so grateful he didn’t let her go. I was so fortunate to keep that teacher. He was favorite and so kind.

This is heartbreaking. And the fact that she has Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome made this hit me even harder than it would have otherwise, because I have that too. So I know what kind of physical pain she would have been in while trying to run. It probably felt like having a heart attack, and she must have been so dizzy and close to fainting. Her strength in keeping going is truly amazing.

Some people, many of whom don’t know how yourube and the algorithm works treat like and dislike buttons as a form of expressing what they feel. Like on Facebook you can choose the sad or angry emoji depending on the context. I belive a lot of people don’t understand and dislike the video because they dislike the tragic event and not the video itself if that makes sense?

I decided to go to a d&d session rather than meet a friend from out of town at the festival. I was less than a mile away... I return to work to my manager at his desk, an open bottle of whiskey in hand, and he looked up to me and in the most broken voice said, "I have to explain to my 6 year old that his little league coach and my best friend had his head blown off." My friend was one of the people who went back in during the firing to drag people back out. My friend who invited me was nearly trampled on the sidewalk. This event changed the lives of every single one of us.... Edit: Thank you all so much for the kind words and well wishes. I was lucky to just have stories. My friends were the ones who still suffer every day from what they saw, and I really appreciate the empathy.
