Australians pronounce it as 'High Lux'. We had one for years as an everyday car but we used it off-road and touring. Camping with it was great, can fit so much stuff on it.

It got stolen several years ago and probably would have been at half a million miles already if she still had it. Still looked immaculate inside despite carrying feed for our farm almost every weekend

When they dropped the Hilux from a demolished building in Top Gear, the beast was still running. They kept it as a trophy for quite some time. I always liked the idea that beyond all the beating there was still something that tried it's hardest to keep on going. This, after the helicopter, I don't know. Feels like almost like it was murder.

Whistlin Diesel content is great to be honest. He’s just himself. A little bit crazy… maybe crazy as f, but I love him. 12:30 Felix is such a city boy. Sweden got the biggest car meet in Europe, Power Big Meet. It's mostly American cars but a lot of people show up in their old modded Volvos and such too. During the summers there are smaller car meets every weekend too. A few big ones and small ones all over Sweden. Not in the biggest cities though.

I went to texas a&m in college station and seeing like 8+ trucks parked outside of frat houses was always hilarious to me. Especially because I was (dropped out lmaoo) actually majoring in animal science to work with livestock and i (still) drive a ford fiesta.

My dad used to own a 1996 hilux and it was still running perfectly when it was stolen in 2009. Those trucks are built like tanks. I still miss that absolute unit of a truck.

My old neighbor has a dark green Hilux. He is using it for decades now, even though he could buy a newer truck because he is a rich farmer. The Hilux was very popular in my Eastern European country when I was a child.

Hey Ken the reason you don't recognize that model truck over here in the u.s. is because the US screwed us over by creating something called the chicken tax which essentially banned that truck from being sold over here due to a crazy high extra tariff that the seller would have had to pay to import it and then sell it but those Hilux trucks are so legendary that the US was so afraid of them being sold over here they had to find a way to ban it. Toyota has sold over 4 million of them! If you're curious about what a newer style one looks like there is a Top Gear special where they took a special Hilux through the Arctic which was a first in the world attempt to cross it with a pickup truck. Also whistlindiesel liked that truck so much that he now has a collection of like four or five of them that he had to pay insane amounts to get really pristine condition ones and he had to import them through a special broker. Also the original Top Gear episode where they tested how durable a bog-standard Hilux diesel five speed on Top Gear they ran into shit they set it on fire they left it in the ocean they even put it on top of a building that was blown up and had to dig it out of the wreckage and the thing still started and drove I don't care what truck it is any American Truck would have been dead as soon as it was left in the ocean LOL

A Toyota Hilux is THE go to truck in most of South America, India, Australia, etc That has to tell you something. Those things just don't break 😂

Video 2 has to be the best test, he takes it to UTAH and keeps up with rock crawlers and custom built 4x4's. Probably the most impressive thing I have ever seen a vehicle do. He drives all out through the dessert for miles with no coolant after wheeling and it keeps running.

As someone with a truck I relate to ken when he said people will always call you up for favor if you have a truck

As a swede myself, this is very inspirational and educational indeed.

There is actually alot of modding of cars in Sweden, its popular with young guys that get an epa(bascilly a car but it drives slower, however they can mod that to) And often those guys grow up and get real cars and mod those too
