The tag probably fell down and the balloon still afloat just in case if you didn't secure it enough to the balloon. Especially if it was just 45 minutes after took off. Balloons usually flew all the way up the edge of the atmosphere before the low atmospheric pressure caused it to blow up.

@@What.the_fork255the bluetooth has a range of MAX (mostly even less) 100 meter. Considering if its in the air its mostly over 100 meter and planes are usually way higher. If a plane randomly got this close, the change would be incredibly small.

But you can search for an AirTag with decimeter precision. An arrow appears in the app pointing towards the 3D location of the AirTag, and the phone tells you exactly how far away it is.

@@filipwassen7947 It actually shows the location of the PHONE, not the airtag unless the phone stays for long enough (10-20ish seconds) So usually, it's never actually in bluetooth range. Especially with high winds because an airtag weighs nothing
