It's always amusing to me that dev boards are either considerably cheaper than you'd expect or considerably more expensive, there never seems to be anything in between lol
@Steyn12
@Steyn12 6 місяців тому
haha exactly, they are either 20-30 euros or 150-200 euros
@asm_nop
@asm_nop 6 місяців тому
The manufacturers usually fall into one of two categories: The ones who understand that they should subsidize the cost of dev boards so their chip gets integrated into more products, massively boosting sales. The ones who know their customers are usually large companies making unbelievably expensive products, and so they create a barrier to entry that pays nicely.
@Steyn12

For those interested in the u-blox XPLR-AOA-2 Explorer Kit, the kit is based on u-blox's NINA-B411 and NINA-B406 modules, both using the our nRF52833 SoC with its Bluetooth 5.1 Direction Finding capabilities to determine the Angle of Arrival(AoA).

@NordicSemi do you also have some samples for testing for university students ?
@bleyah
@bleyah 6 місяців тому
@@syousufimam same question. I was interested in using it for my masters thesis but the price of the devkit is a bit overkill. BT AoA/AoD is pretty new stuff, did found some other boards but all of them are either hardly available or expensive. Well teoretically speaking it could be possible with any 5.1 or newer bt device, but you would need an additional antenna array and rf switch for the antennas. and ofc some coding to set it all up.

bluetooth prositionning has always been shitty and impractical for actual product, unless the sole product of the startup is a positioning device and the startup wants to spend a whole year on the hardware and product design. Besides, what they forget to mention is that between this demo baord and an actual functional indoor positionning system there is quite a gap, you will need several base station, positioned strategically inside the building, and the whole setup will have to be very well though and tested before it can even start to work, and this process will have to be repeated or each and every location, which makes it a very unpractical product to sell and deploy at the client site. You'll also need some kind of processing unit that will gather all datas for the base station and determine the actual absolute position of each beacon. Needless to say this is no small project, lol. In reality, the only decently working technology for assets tracking is UWB and long range RFID, that is how it is done in the industry for a while, it is now cheap enough, so it doesnt make much sense to bother with bluetooth, which is not a suitable technology for assets tracking in the firsat place; AoA and antenna array kinda make it work, but uwb does a lot better job in the first place due to laws of physics.

I found a crude but VERY effective way to clear solder points clogged with solder! Touch your iron to the clog long enough to melt the solder, then move the iron and IMMEDIATELY blow air into the point. It does splatter molten solder in the direction you blow the air, but if you use a damp paper towel as a backstop, it's perfectly manageable. Obviously, keep a distance of at least a few inches between the board and backstop.

Another BLDC controller option is the B-G431B-ESC from ST. It is a board with a STM32G431CB microcontroller and is designed to be used as an ESC. It is a microcontroller so it does need programmed and is reprogramable but they have some example code and software. The MOSFETs are rated for 60 V and 120 A (although this is cooling dependant, the dev board with a propeller blowing air over it apparently has a max current of 40 A). It supports multiple drive types and hall sensors. The board is also pretty cheap, better priced than normal drone ESCs.

I just had a PCB manufacturer reach out to me about that exact issue with THT holes being filled! Long story short I had ordered a pile of PCBs inc component supply and assembly, but did not include THT component assembly due to manual handling costs. Just before shipping it was picked up that the THT holes were filled, and they asked if I was okay with that - which I was for this small batch. Will definitely use your trick of smacking it onto the table! Usually I just get angry with my solder-sucker trying to clear them hah.

With the IQS cap touch dev board, the proximity sensing is all to do with the sensitivity of the touch sensor. It has 2 touch channels. 1 to detect touch and 1 way more sensitive to detect proximity. That coupled with the electrode design, you can relatively accurately detect proximity on your bench. But in real life, it gets tricky. Make sure your ground plane is always constant.

Looking at the desoldering troubles it seems you should really consider investing in one of those Hakko desoldering guns. Trust me they are worth it. But the cheaper way to remove solder stuck in the MCU pins is the use a conical tip to heat it from the top and a desoldering pump (a decent one) on the bottom to pull the solder out with the board stuck in a vice. It Always works

Seconding the suggestion of a hakko desoldering gun. I would specific either a proper hakko one or at least a more expensive one. The cheaper ones are not worth it unfortunately, I tried several before biting the bullet on the full blown Hakko.

You also get other magnetic field based current sensors, I believe you may have shown some before, the ACS712 is one and you can get them in various current ratings and you can get breakouts with a screw terminal at one end and header pins one the other. It fixes the distance problem you describe by having the current pass through the IC so the distance between the conductor and sensor can’t change.

There probably is but you'd have to use a lot of energy for 1km signal to survive or a lower frequency, which would require a larger antenna. The frequency also affects which objects it can pass through. The device measures the time difference of the signal arriving in each of the antennae, from which it can detect the angle of incidence. It is similar to how a radar works. But I'm mostly commenting, so I can read replies of people who know what they're talking about.

you should use/test one of those x-ray free x-ray sensors/setups. basically allows you to see things and inside them and through them, well unless shielded with metal or such, or to far away. actually many modern smartphone have one build in since they cost almost nothing, but in most phones all acces to them for the user, is completely blocked, even just reading it instead only going through a black box meaning one would need to find a way to hack that or to just get their hands on a loose version/development board. it uses/can use multiple effects such are radio reflection, weakening/degradation of signals, angles, etc. basically like sonar but much more options and it uses radio waves instead. there are sensors speciffically designed for this so they already form a phased array and handle many pings and such easily, if you don't know them yet, they are called 5g modules, the same modules which are used to rip off people to get them to pay more for a "new" mobile network so that symbol shows up in their screen despite the actual range of the actual 5g network being so low that in reality you are basically just using 4g or 4g+ most of the time, so are just ripped of and paying way to much for something you in reality don't actually get. there also are those I think 20ghz or 40ghz radio modules speciffically meant for measuring dept, angle and movement they only measure in half 2d by default. but if you can combine 3 of them 2 horizontal 2 vertical so one in the corner one next to it and one on top of it, or if instead you attach one to a servo or such to move it's position, and some basic computing then you get a full 3d immage which can actually look through things. it won't work close to as well as 5g, and 5g also has insanely higher resolution, actually good enough to use it like a normal camera, while those 20ghz modules tend to only see resolution up to around 10 cm or such so are more for fun since you can then see people through walls. would be cool to see normal people actually use those, even though I think it is logic this is little spoken about, since if many people use it, it might become illegal. since essentially unlike normal x-ray this allows you to not only look through things, but also inside of them. very usefull since if enabled on a phone you could see inside your body to see if something is wrong and what using your phone to detect diseases. but at the same time. this also allows spying on people very easily, and being able to see through clothes. and would likely cause pannick if people realize their phones have such sensors build into them, but in a black box where it is running but they do not actually know what it does. ofcource since I am for Free(as in freedom) open source, I actually hate such things being in a black box, so would actually like this since it would force companies to allow people full acces and insight over those modules if they want people to continue using them. actually is the same as those old raspberry pi radio echo location and triangulation projects, but this is much more advanced and detailed and all sensors can be on one place instead of needing many (3 or more) an triangulation.

Y'know, it seems like some solder braid/wick and some decent quality flux would make your life much easier. Those closed solder holes would take a couple minutes (at most) to fully extract and resolder.
@AusFlip
@AusFlip 2 місяці тому
Next time you have filled holes, before smashing the board on the desk, just soak solder braid in flux, put the end on the hole, heat well, then slowly drag the braid off the hole, and all the solder will come out. Easy, clean, and no violence. There is a UKposts channel called Mr. Solderfix which is run by someone who knows what he's doing. He demonstrates that technique very well.

what circuit need use, measure 800W aircooled 0-110 volt spindle speed and controll not drop speed or torque if come resist to spindle. cut metal and not drop speed. and can measure speed accurate 0-30 000 rpm

Put your board in a clamp, heat the solder hole from the bottom and use a solder pump from the top to clean the hole out, works fine for me :D

Wouldnt even just a small foil capacitor reduce the noise enough for the current measure Sensor? Or did you mean you want to measure the noise itself?
