STEAM Deck is an actual a PC on a mobile- feel and just like a PC I can use import all my games that is non-STEAM based and I hope Valve would actually work with GOG on this one as well. CDProjekt better work with Valve on STEAM Deck because it will also help their market since half of their market are also using STEAM. So it's no brainer to work with Valve when half of your market is also using STEAM to capture more customers. EDIT Game-Developers who are low-funded like me would definitely want GOG to push forward on working with Valve on a cross platform. ---- Give us STEAM and GOG cross platform on STEAM Deck as well this will allow us DRM and DRM-Free crowd to do what we want to keep our games.

A small screen like that still looks plenty sharp enough for high motion gameplay at 720p-ish resolutions with the benefit of also not stressing the hardware out like 1080p would, so you have some flexibility on settings vs framerate as opposed to trying to make everything work at 1080p and just hoping you can get the settings just right to at least be able to hit 30 FPS.

I ended up having bought games I hadn't looked at for longer than 1 second having no idea what games I had in my library. Part of the fun is though the surprise when I go through my library and the excitement of: What will be on sale this time at 90% what I will buy. Well: I stopped doing that but I had great fun taking this approach to shopping for games during a period of 1 to 2 months.

I'm pretty sure they did the headphone update because of the new pen tool that comes with the art program. From what I've been told you can use the pen on other games that have touch screen but since you plug it into the mic jack you are left without sound one would assume (haven't tested any of this myself so it's just a theory)

Probably going to get the middle priced one and have external storage when I'm playing at home. Preorders are only stupid for software, which can be duplicated infinitely. For hardware, or back in the day when all games came on physical disks, games too, preorders were the best way to make sure customers got what they were after. We should still be doing preorders for hardware, all the time, since it's the best way to both overcome scalpers and make sure supply can meet demand.

honestly, the most attractive feature of the steam deck for me is already having a comprehensive library of all my favourite games. the experience of buying a console (the switch for me) is always soured by those first few weeks with very few games and little reason to play it over your pc
@OneThousand98
@OneThousand98 2 роки тому
That's kind of your own fault for not buying more games when you buy a console (the switch for you) though? I have like 300 games in my Steam Library, but most of them are total garbage. I actually play two of them, Civ 6 and PuBG. This handheld would be absolutely awful to play Civ6 on, and you might be able to get PuBG to work on it, but the framerate would be low and graphics settings would need to go to low / medium. Even still the controls on the Steam Deck are awful for FPS games, so I can't see myself playing PuBG on it... Whereas on the Switch I have Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW, four great games which work really well on handheld / joypad controls. I think the biggest issue the Cleveland Steamer has is that most PC games are not in any way set up for Joypad control. Those that are, are usually low-budget indie platformers which are just... meh.

I have a question so doom eternal for example is around 17gig on switch but on PC it’s about 50gig right? So I take it the install size for the steam deck is the same as a PC? So trying to install large AAA games on the 64 or even the 256 version seems pointless
@Gramini
@Gramini 2 роки тому
There's a new feature in Steam that developers can set up different "depots" to serve a smaller install size for lower resolution stuff and a larger install size for more high fidelity stuff. So it's possible to do "small size optimizations", but the devs need to set it up.
