There’s nothing quite like riding through war-torn Velen with that gorgeous sorrowful music accompanying you along. The soundtrack and quests in The Witcher III are top tier. In fact, the soundtrack in particular is possibly one of the best soundtracks in any game ever. The "yell" when u complete a quest, the random music playing in pubs and town centers, the battle music that kicks up when approaching a monster, the calming ambience when exploring with roach. This games music and narrative are incredible.

I played it for the first time during covid, it was a MASSIVE help to keep me sane while stuck inside. Being able to delve into a massive fictional universe was extremely interesting, and seeing this whole other side of fantasy I hadn’t experienced before was truly magical. Since then I’ve become a huge fan of the games, done several in depth prop builds inspired by them, listen to the score daily, and have bought and customized several figures that I admittedly play with often, lol. I am very happy to have had the experience of playing Witcher 3, and I would love to return to it a few years down the line once it leaves my memory a bit more. I always hate when people say the combat in this game is bad as it’s actually super tight and feels good. The attacks take the perfect amount of time, all of them are varied and the magic abilities add plenty of room to experiment and kill your enemies faster and cooler. As well as exploration often adding to the combat by looking for plants and stuff to turn into oils and potions and stuff, that’s the crazy fun gameplay loop that kept me interested in this game.

Thank you for making this video, Luke. This is my favourite game ever and in a relatively short time you managed to showcase some of the reasons why. I love the world, the characters, the dialogue, the gameplay and the rpg elements. There are tweaks to be made, for sure, and hopefully a next gen version will eventually appear, but this is a 10/10 video game and everything that we want from the industry. I would love if you made a brand new critique, including DLCs, with your new production values, editing process and fresh thoughts on it. That eye in the dummy sequence might just be a reference to all the boys that died in Kaer Morhen before they could become witchers. I don't know if I remember correctly, but I think in the books it gnawed at Geralt which is why he didn't want to put Ciri through it, since the death rate for the Trial of the Grasses was so high. He doesn't mention it to Vesemir because Vesemir already knows that.

Personally I always viewed the eye on the training dummy to be a sort of older Ciri as Garlet gets older and his time is coming he's going to dream of her grown up getting possibly hurt because she's not a fully Witcher. And as such is why he's so hard on her, Trying to use training and her natural magical abilities to get her by instead of mutations and potions. And obviously that wasn't what he was taught and as such he's terrified of teaching her the wrong things thus leading to her possible death.

In Odyssey a couple worth mentioning are the "plague" quest on Kephallonia and the Kyra questline on Mykonos ....
