🦋❣🦋Age with the challenges have caught up to me. When we bought our home, 40 or so years ago taking care of it was so much fun. I now have Dystonia, my husband had melanoma on the bottom of his foot, much of the ball of it had to be removed. We love our home, but can no longer care for it as we did. We do have a gardener that does as least as possible, ran our sprinklers over with his lawn mower then charged us $120.00 to fix it. That happened twice. I then went to the Home Depot and bought an assortment of sprinkler heads, the next time he broke them, I handed them to him, and said " you broke it, you fix it ". That was the last time he broke the sprinkler heads. 🦋❣🦋

I like that as well! Please read my long story below of something super cool that happened to me one day. It is a bit long, my apologies. Note: Its tough work everyday. The effort I put into my landscaping business to the smallest details, planting flowers, annuals perennials, trees, shrubs, plants, spreading pine-straw, mulch, installing irrigation lines, cutting turf grass on large properties which I also do all the Turf Care and spraying of herbicides, liquid fertilizers, granular fertilizer, lime, soil tests, water retention agents, biochar, overseeding in the winter time, the list truly goes on .... I work alone by myself. Story is below I do have people tell me they appreciate my work, but I'll never forget one particular lady one sunny spring afternoon. A complete stranger, she was probably 60 years old, flagged me down from her vehicle as I was working on a piece of land that was actually the entrance to a very high end neighborhood. As she approached with a big smile, I was both curious and glad to take a much-needed break. The lady introduced herself as Susan. As I introduced myself back, I said with mild embarrassment: "I'm sorry. I would shake your hand, but I've been planting flowerbeds for several days now in the dirt..." She grinned and replied, "It's not a problem" as she held her right hand out to shake. From there she said, "about those flower beds....Did you know I was born and raised in this town? I drive down this road almost every single day as I gaze upon the beautiful sights of this landscape." "Now, I'm not quite wealthy enough to have a house in this neighborhood, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the flowers and trees on a beautiful spring day like today that I have always taken for granted." "I recently realized how bad it would look if this was just another concrete parking lot or unsightly View." Susan continued: "I'd never thought about the gentlemen who make these views possible, it must be a lot of work... look at that grass!" she exclaimed! " They could play professional baseball on that!" As I chuckled because that particular grass is some of my favorite I've spent countless hours on, I tried to humbly reply: "thank you! And yes it's quite a bit of work, but you've made my day." Then, just as I thought she was going to leave, she motioned me to her vehicle and a surprise. She'd brought me lunch! BBQ sandwich, ribs, slaw, sweet tea, and a piece of chocolate pie. It was actually from one of my favorite barbecue places in town and enough to eat for dinner as well... She shook my hand goodbye and left. I haven't seen her in a while now, but from that point on anytime I was working on that property and she drove by I waved at her car and she always waved back with a thumbs-up! I hope she's doing well. Guys and gals, spread the love and make someone feel as joyful & appreciated like I did that day 6 years ago. Thank somebody who does landscaping for a living or is just a homeowner who likes to work in their yard. Compliment them! they are the ones creating these beautiful views we get to enjoy. Thx for reading my story!

Now I’m one of those elderly people who’s not able to do it, grateful a son does it for me. I was in a “small town USA” with no one to help. I’m a Kansas gal but my son in another state so I moved near him when health began failing. Thank you for your kindness doing what is your labor of love.

Australia is a great place to go. I've been there probably a dozen times. I was a cargo pilot flying the MD-11. We could carry a little over 200,000 pounds of cargo. I was flying between Hawaii, American Somoa and Australia. Got to skydive multiple times in both Hawaii and Australia. I had to bring my own skydiving gear to be allowed to jump in Australia. I did around 20 skydives that month while working. What a great life. Retired in Florida.

I'm not elderly, probably just a few years your senior. I've even got a similar build to you. People seeing me, and the projects I like(d) to do, would never guess that someone like THAT would need help with simple things like getting the weeds off the gravel path in front of the garden. But health can be failing you in many ways. Even someone that looks like a beefy middle aged male can be forced to let things "slide" for months or even years (and be mightily frustrated about it). So... thank you for helping people, independent of what they look like. While it might be hard to swallow the pride, and being forced to accept such help, I can't tell you strongly enough how much it means to being offered help. Thank you.

Nope, not lazy, continuously exhausted from fighting the shadows of his/her past. Being able to lift the world on (rare) good days, and expecting him/herself to do so every day. But after months or even years of sleep disturbed by nightmares. Of constant high stress levels, choking the life out of him/her. Each day, every day. Even the most infatigable and headstrong person can be so wrung out, that just mowing that f...unny lawn can be to much to do. I wish you and your husband all the best. I agree with Carolyn, no one should make assumptions. I was a big gardener, loved watching things grow, in the many colours, living off my small vegetable garden every year, but got hurt on the job and now a very painful disease that has me bed ridden 80% of my time. On a good day I have my Daughter.visit and help me put in the flowers I love so much, of course I overdue it and end up completely bedridden for about 3-4 days but you don’t care because mentally having this garden helps me tremendously. What is hurtful is neighbours that only pay attention to that one day, not the days following when they do not see you and spread rumours you are faking your illness. Us disabled cannot live our lives doing nothing as the depression will set in badly, we too have to have an outlet and watching my garden grow, is worth every bit of additional pain it put me in, please understand we all need an outlet, something that de-stresses our lives, so do not assume we are bad people trying to get that measly disability check, for if it was a choice, I would be working making a good living and living a life that is full, so do not take my special little moments away from me by assuming the worst in people. This year I find I have really declined due to no health care waiting years for specialist in Canada as I get sicker and no longer cannot do that flower garden, so people like you are a blessing, may your life be full of happiness, love and laughter, thank you for your generosity. This man here is an angel as he gives our lives back when we cannot do it for ourselves, you put a huge smile on our faces, when we can see our homes come alive again.

I've been chronic since 2010 and still get some of those exact judgments from family/ friends..The last 2 years most of them can finally see, but it took a long time, and even then, only after temporary "death" and paralysis did they take serious or understand why I am on bedrest 90 percent of the time, but now most accept that this is life now. I am so glad that there are other people that love doing this. I am a pressure walking freak and love seeing before to after. Funnily, I can see what it will look like at the end where the average person I know just "hope" it'll look better. It feels so good to see night and day. I'm in real estate and even though most agents focus on the house and yard, they never think driveway, sidewalks unless there's grass, etc. There's always going to be a little patina that builds up and a washing makes it look great. In real estate it's all about presentation and if it pops out to potential buyers it increases chances to sell quickly easily.

I'm wheelchair bound and I dream of having a house one day and growing old there but even if I could afford one, taking care of the property would be a nightmare and paying others to do it is expensive. Whenever I see people doing volunteer work or charity like this it makes me so happy. Sometimes I struggle to be positive and feel like humanity is terrible etc... Seeing people doing wholesome things definitely helps with that. I really appreciate it

It was so beautiful what you said about accessibility to people's homes and the world and how that transitions throughout life. People can get stuck in how they move throughout the world and judge others through that lens. What you do is so kind and can help homeowners confidence in a different way. Home maintenance is hard, tedious and can be expensive. But even just a quick clean up can give a home new life and give that homeowner a newer outlook. You're good people. ❤️

So satisfying. I remember seeing an old concrete patio cleaned for the first time. We had just moved into an old house and I was roller skating around outside. My parents thought I had ruined the patio as I was leaving lighter marks in the concrete where I had skated (essentially cutting through the grime). Luckily they eventually realised what was happening and bought a power hose. I’ve love cleaning dirty concrete ever since.

Everybody deserves help, everyone deserves that kind of love and charity - no qualifications needed. We don't know what struggles everyone else is facing. It's just a shame there isn't more of it to go around.

our economic system is predicated on qualifications needed. We must get rid of that notion in our economic system, and reinstate from each according to their ability, to each according to their need. We must seize the means of administration.

I used to LOVE doin yards! Especially the ones that were far gone, so we all could see the great difference, so I totally speak your lang!🌟💯. I probably would have got a scapper on on that algie/moss growing on the stairs BUT YOUR METHOD IS MUCH BETTER, FASTER, MORE EFFECTIVE AND CLEANER(leaving no scratchmarks)!🌟💯 Totally love the work you do. You take great pride in your work and it's looks fabulous! Also love how you explain everything so that we are completely informed as to how to get the job done right!💪🌟💯
