Deer are the gentlest animals and to befriend them is amazing.

Habituating any wild animal who still lives in the wild is not kindness-it can make the animal an easier target for hunters if they get accustomed to being around people

As much as I love deer, please don’t feed them. I live in an area where deer, elk and other wildlife are abundant-but they are also dying because humans are feeding them (adenovirus) and/or by being acclimated to us. They’re amazing to watch-just from afar. I get it though, who wouldn’t want to feed “Bambi”? But, please don’t. Thank you. 🙏🏼

*To everyone freaking out:* It's not like their entire life is dependent on this one guy giving one of them half a banana once (or even once a week, or however often he bothers to do it). It's not like if the guy doesn't show up with a banana tomorrow, they'll just suddenly forget how to be alive, and just lay in a field and starve until they die, like "Well.. guy didn't show up with a banana, so, I guess I'll just lay here until I die or he comes back 🤷🏻‍♂️ Oh well". They'll just.. go eat something else LoL. As far as it being dangerous because "they'll be easier to hunt", the deer most likely very rarely sees the hunter that shoots them anyway. They're wearing camo, with scent maskers, 20ft up in a tree stand, using a near-instantaneous instrument of death with a scope on it. I think that's much more likely to lead to their demise, than the unlikely scenario that a deer sees them up there, or laying prone behind a bush out in the woods within their normal environment, and decides to walk up like "Hey, you have a banana?" lol. I imagine they're capable enough to read and understand (or get a feel for) the current situation and environment that they're in at the time, and make a well-enough decision. When they're actually out in the thick of the woods where they'll be hunted, they probably just bolt at the mere sound of pretty much anything. They're pretty skittish out there for the most part I think. I'll agree though that if there is a danger, it could be to human idiots though, yeah. While this guy is being cool with them, there's bound to be some guy who uses the word "bruh" a lot who will go "Bro, see if it'll try to smoke your cigarette! 😆", and it'll spook a buck who will gore him wide open and smash 3 of his ribs through a lung. That said, the amount of times something like that will happen, VS the amount of times a normal, friendly encounter will take place, is probably 1 : 20,000 in favor of the normal encounter. It's relatively fine. 👍

Deers will always be cautious. In packs. Not often you see one Alone. We often visit a golf Area. And as many as 60 or Feed every day there. They Are used to people. But as I have only seen a couple of Them , let you get close enough To feed. They stand and lay or sit To watch. But for most They Don't trust and others will Take off to even the ones Who got close. Yes we know There are bad people out there Which is a shame. It's a reward To a person who can get a little Close to nature. Downing it Is a shame to. Me I would rather See a nice moment. I live in country I had a deer come in my yard one day and my dogs were out they had never seen one before and when they did they took after it with my German shepherd in the lead I'm screaming my head off get your butts back here it will stomp you to death thank god my dogs listen to me they all looked at me like mom we were just checking out the weird looking dog chill jeez 🤣🤣🤣the damn thing came back the next day because they were cutting down trees to make building it pisses me off the racoons deer coyote who taught my German shepherd how to howl all had to find a new home we live in the country for reason keep your building shit away and cutting down our trees🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

You know I see people always going on and on about how feeding animals from a good idea because then they'll see humans as their only source of food andigo running towards humans who might actually cause them harm or kill them but I think that's under estimating animals ability to at least discern whether or not a human is one that they should go to or one that they shouldn't go to. Biana animals aren't going to forget all their instincts of how to survive in the wild just because one or even several people decide to give him some food we didn't find anything that's just going to help them and not having to for at least the next day or two not have to be so quick about fighting more food
