My husband was severely injured on the job on 6/24/22 and he worked at his job for 22 years. He stayed in the hospital (8 different ones) and he just passed away from this work accident on 2/28/24. 19 months and 4 days later he passed away. He loved watching you Cole. I am now a widow with 3 teenage boys to take care of alone and I am scared to death as my husband and I did not do estate planning. We just didn’t have anything to offer our kids as they are quite young. Excellent video Cole

Injured on the job? I would think his employer would have to pay for whatever happened to your husband. So sorry to hear of your loss. What a terrible 18 months you and your family must’ve gone through. I’m a widow too. But I’m an older widow. My husband passed of pancreatic cancer. It’s a new life for both of us I guess.

@iamwhoiamd7056 I would be looking into an attorney since you should have received some kind of monetary compensation for the injury that ultimately led to your husbands death. I'm so sorry you are going through this alone but have courage you can do this there is support and resources out there for you and your children. Reach out for help in your community as well as Government funded resources. I wish you nothing but the best. God Bless You !

One piece of advice on the lawsuit. I went through one when I was injured on the job by a 3rd party. Dont say anything to anyone about what is going on etc. Lawyers are sneaky, in my case they filmed me trying to catch me doing things. They followed me at work, they listened to us talking on our CB's when we were in our trucks. They tried to turn some of my friends to testify in their favor. So keep everything to yourself. They actually turned the neighbor right across the street, a young couple, to film me from their house. Whatever they paid them, they sold right before the case was to go to court and moved on. And this is because I saw some of the tape and immediately realized where they had filmed from. So even people you think are safe to talk to or trust...... sometimes the money is too tempting.

I think his edits do a lot to make the audio crisp, so from his perspective maybe this is easier but the quality is lower. It's good you are getting clarity and a plan for the future. We were not a big farm but I have 8 siblings. When my dad passed away from a blood clot after a heart attack at 62, we had to do some major rethinking of how things were going to work. My mom decided to sell some equipment and rent out her land to a local farmer. Then she got pancreatic cancer and passed away 7 years after my dad. Most of us were not planning on farming but my dad wanted the farm to go to the only son. Some of my sisters had purchased land from my mom to help her out or have an acre or two on the land we grew up on. So there was a lot of figuring out what was fair and not just equal. It can really be stressful and strain your relationships if you don't have a plan in writing that everyone understands.

Cole, a living trust versus a will. Living trust saved us alot of money when dad passed. It also helped greatly when he needed care. You trust your family, consider a living trust. Not going thru probate allowed me to afford to keep the farm that's been in the family 125 years.

It's a business which means most things they work with are tax deductions. This video is even a tax deduction. People get hung up on debt but debt on new equipment is cheaper than equipment maintenance and downtime. They lease most of that 2,000 acres which is a tax deduction. Removing the rocks from the fields are a deduction. It's all deductible.
@jacoblandis4535
@jacoblandis4535 14 днів тому
@@dammitbobby283 tax deductions are great, but they don't replace actual expenses and principle costs. Deductions only help retain profit. So if profit is only $50/acre deductions just help you keep more of that $50. They don't make profit out of thin air.
@jacoblandis4535
@jacoblandis4535 14 днів тому
@@dammitbobby283 real life example. Our farm lost $40 000 in equity last year. Meaning we didn't make enough money to cover our debt and have to borrow more against our assets for this season. If you don't have profit you don't have any deductions to get back.
@dammitbobby283
@dammitbobby283 14 днів тому

@jacoblandis4535
@jacoblandis4535 13 днів тому
@@dammitbobby283 I farm with my 2 brothers. I and another brother do the bookkeeping and budgeting. We hire a very experienced tax preparer that specializes in farm business taxes. We work closely with our banker to manage costs and stress test budgets. We have been farming less than 10 years, and don't own any land, but the business is growing each year, requiring additional opperating funds to be borrowed. We do detailed itemized budgets on each field every year. This year our loss comes from drought and equipment repair. Crop insurance got us up to break even on inputs, but necessary repairs on a few pieces of equipment were well over budget. Again, repairs are tax deductible (and refundable) IF you have profit that gets taxed. Not every season generates a tax event. Profit margins on most farms are fairly slim. Often below $100/ac.

I worked with farmers most of my working career. You didn't need to explain about farm size and comparisons. You've done a lot of work, with your family, in order for your farm to be more efficient and even larger areas to plant. I've never heard you brag or boast, just facts. You have nothing to apologize for. We've watched you plant and harvest for several years. Each year is better or more organized than the last. You've shown all the things you need to know about making a profit or larger yields due to experiments or different seed. You've also shown all the things a family farm does in between planting and harvest. On top of all that, cleaning up the property you bought from your great grandfather. And, last but not least, having to remodel your home. This is a necessary remodel. And, if that was not enough, you got married and now have 2 little boys! I would say you have many hats, a few more than your other family members. But, they are so willing to pitch in and help. I'm a 70-year-old female non-farmer. Great video! The rock finder was the most exciting thing. Very cool. Listening to Daddy Cornstar talk about whether the soil is ready was interesting. The overall feel of the video was organized and thoughtful, with the assurance of future planning, getting your ducks all in a row, buying the filters at that big sale, and clearing that creek for Cooper's use with his hay business. It's not even my farm, and I felt comfortable with the farm's future. I appreciate your acknowledgment of all your helpers.

Cole, when you say watch the video from start to finish, you are asking us to watch all the advertisements placed in the video every ten minutes all the way through and not skipping them. I’m sure this is what pays for these videos. That being said, your personality and intelligence is well worth watching a few commercials. Been a sub for five years.

New mike gives so much better audio than what you’ve been using and really reduces wind noises. Zack and Cooper are mechanical superstars and when watching them work, they do not let the grass grow under their feet. Roman is such a big asset in many ways, engineering, persistent work ethic, sense of humor, and all around great interesting guy. Cole you are a managerial superstar, electrician of sorts, carpenter of sorts and all around great guy along with being a great dad and husband. So enjoyed listening to Daddy Cornstar dig into the ground with his hands and give his take on when planting would be done. And putting all the different segments together was Cedric, the editing superstar. Thanks so much about giving the different vendors credit for what they were adding to your farm productivity. The rock app and related equipment rock digging machine was almost unbelievable to watch. What a great channel this is and thanks Cole for your generous spirit.

My gosh, I have so much to say. I don't know where to start. I live in the Panhandle of Nebraska. I grew up on a farm. We grew corn, beans, wheat, and sugar beats. We used irrigation, so I remember halling pipe, moving socks, and changing water three times a day. He lost the farm in 1984, but my brother bought it and dad worked for him for many years. My dad is gone now, but my brother still has the farm and is doing goid. My dad never bought anything but John Deere and my brother is that way. I have a John Deere mower that I bought used many years ago and it runs like a top so I am sold, too. Lol I have to be honest, when I heard you don't irrigate, I was shocked. Evidently it works because you have been going a long time, but it still surprises me. I hope it continues to work for you. I want to tell you more, but this is long enough. Contact me if you are interested. Best of luck to you and I love your channel. I watch it all the time. The new microphone is great. You sound much better. 😊

Here on our farm in Central Ontario Canada we took out our old stone fence lines and sold them . The stones are mostly 14-25 inches that have been sitting out in the elements for years and years. The landscaping company did buy some that were just picked in the last few years. These stones get sold down in the cities in Southern Ontario.
