I just turned 46 yrs old. My friend introduced me to In this Moment a while back and I couldn't be more thankful (?) This song.. THIS SONG made me realize that I DO NOT have to be talked to like a fucking idiot, treated like dog shit on the bottom of his shoe, demeaned in ways that should've destroyed me. I never was strong enough to leave. Scared shitless. But the words to Roots, Joan of Arc Big Bad Wolf turned me into a bitch I think. Getting my own place after 20+ yrs of marriage and never being by myself. If I can do it Anyone can. Js.

This song came on as I was recently dealing with some pretty horrible pain, and I ended up putting it on repeat to power through it. It became my anthem for the days to come. Amen. Our home was a PTSD generating environment thanks to a verbally, psychologically and physically abusive father whom I learned over my life was also abused by my grandmother who repressed memories of her childhood because they were so traumatic. Generations of traumatized children. This song twists and turns negative experiences into positive realizations that we survived the worst and we never have to repeat it

@@josueburciaga I've got into the band during the early Blood era, but I like their older stuff too, I understand and respect your opinion, but sadly(at least for their older fans), the band already said that they want to stick with aesthetics and visual performances while still staying true to their sound. Particularly, for me, it's ok and I encourage the band to keep their visuals+music combo. It gives the band a whole unique approach that we don't see that often in other bands. That's exactly why I love In This Moment. I find a lot of inspiration on their lyrics along with the visuals, as I love to draw music based fanarts.

Seen ITM live four times. There has never been a live ITM concert that I've been to where I've ever been disappointed. Their songs kick ass, their shows kick ass. After having this song stuck on repeat in my head all day, it has become my new favorite song. Can't wait to see them live again.

Well I do believe she is supposed to personify a strongly rooted tree in the song and video (hence the foresty settings and shadows). She became stronger over time and from surviving painful/hurtful experiences that ate her alive, and now her roots are planted so deep into the ground, she's not budging or going anywhere and stands strong. This is what I think, anyway.

I wish I could give you a guide on how to beat depression but it's just impossible. Don't give up, when you finally beat your depression you will become something great and you will become stronger than you ever imagined.

I discovered this band/music group a few months back, and my goodness I am in love with, Maria Brink voice and video visual expression of her music. Well, yes but "fuck you a little harder" doesn't fit. Plus she sings "thank you for the hole you dug in me; soaking me in your seed (semen)" which doesn't fit. Not many women molested by their fathers praise in such a way. My significant other is a therapist. She's dealt with women who've had traumatic childhoods. Circling back to the father being the inspiration for this song, I think if she meant saying a "Fuck you" to her father, the lyric would have been written differently, even as edgy as Maria is. There's room to sing "Say Fuck you a little harder" or better yet, "Say Fuck you a little louder"
