Last Christmas I heard this version for the first time. My husband and I had just found out that our efforts to adopt had fallen through for the second time. I cried when I heard this song, because all I wanted then was a child. Well here we are almost 9 months later, and I am feeding my little 7 month old son. Those tears of grief are tears of joy when I hear this song now, because it captures that heartfelt longing perfectly.

AMAZING!!!! I lost my mother 2 years ago and she loved christmas. The first time I heard mariah carey that Christmas the lyrics spoke to me different and thought that it would also work as a ballad in my case. I went looking for a cover to see if someone did slow it down and found this...when leslie started to sing, it broke me! When you actually listen to the lyrics this version is superior in every way to the original. This song is about love and wanting your loved one close on Christmas, The upbeat nature of the original doesn't fit that.
