as someone who in a civil eng. field, accidents on site are very scary, even if u did try everything to prevent accidents, there will always be one, either its a minor or a major, accident is something we cannot control, but we can be alert and take precautions, there's many life that had lost during construction especially during where there isnt any supervision. sometimes the labours thinks they knew and took it lightly, but sometimes that will cause them their lives. i heard a case that in this construction site, there is an temporary elevator to take cement from level to another, and the capacity for the elevator is 2 person and the cement only (i dont remeber how many kg) then there's a day where the workers didnt take the precaution, 5 of them are in the elevator with cements, not longer after that, the elevator felt down and all of them r ded, rip. so for those who wanted to pursue in safety & health, construction, or engineering etc, i wish all of u good luck, your works are noble

My dad's body is completely buggered after a lifetime working in the carpentry field. His shoulders, knees and back have all given out on him at different times - his shoulders still needing a second surgery. Construction work or just hard manual labour may sound 'fun' if you're with friends, but the physical demand on your body lasts a lifetime. My dad didn't get to work with 'friends' they were just men stuck in the same job as him.
