if this was available when I served in the Navy (1987-91), I would had stayed in and serve my 20 or more. Instead, I transferred to the Army. 😒 I did love my four years in the Navy.

I was CSAR in the Nav. And yes, I agree with you! I flew (CC) and Swimmer (80-90's) but had a minor back issue that, let's just say...precluded me from constant bombardment on me, but did make it through SAR School. The new swick :) gave me a hope for those just shy of holy-shnikies. Know your place but....there is a place for you. Example: Your spouse isn't getting paid for housing while abroad and you look to a very special peep that can undue this fu*kery with great speed! Do you say this peep is unworthy? No, you don't! It's called optimized team-work.

We did, there were two special boats that BSU-1 used to support Seal operations in Nam. the LSSC and the MSSC. LSSC, two 427 fords with water jets. MSSC, two 427 Mercruiser in board out boards. Good for about 35-40 knots carrying a Seal platoon. Two M2 .50 cal, two to four M60 .30 cals, and aft an M134 mini gun. Yes, they were bad ass boats!

In 1980, I was @ a small shipyard in Pt. Everglades for work on a keel cooler on a large tug, and in the slip next to us was a 50ft naval craft partially covered w/ a tarp. It was dry docked so I was able to see the telescoping wing under the bow and the stern “wing”, which hydraulically swung up out of the water. Intrigued, I started taking pictures and was immediately halted by a senior chief there. Being the engineer on my vessel, I explained I was only interested from an engineering standpoint. He said it was a new high speed experimental vessel from Norfolk which had a breakdown on sea trials but was classified so NO Pictures. I’ve still got them though and it is a beast. Turbine jet boat riding on wings was what I observed and have never seen another. It was likely a drug interdiction or special ops vessel. Wow

The PHM where retired in less then 5 years after their delivery from Boeing to the US Navy. They suffered from very high fuel consumption, where extremely large radar cross sections and here killing dolphins with their forward strut at an alarming rate. Maybe they should turn the gun so it is parallel (or nearly parallel) with the boat's side so the barrel is able to be easily handled with two hands - I assume they have barrel change mitts available. Turning the gun parallel with teh side of the boat would also mean that if the barrel fell there might be a better chance it landed on the deck instead of straight into the drink.

Without the armament 10 million , another two for the Barbie and Spa...they will sell you one if you have an 850 credit score..😄

The navy should adopt a hopper to collect empty brass. And stop accidents from happening.

This would be the best bachelor party idea ever. You and the guys go out on the patrol boat and shoot inflated targets. Not sure if drinking is a good idea even for those not driving the boat. Strippers may enhance the experience.

Takes balls to take it out to the deep blue waters and randevou with a much larger US Navy ship with a well deck or regular destroyers.

How about a floating bullseye so they can see how precise they shoot, and can reuse the bullseye target?

Это не катер береговой охраны государства . У нас в Дудинку стоит катер ФСБ . Газотурбинный мотор , 1700 л/с . Догоняет все что можно догнать . Вот это тема . Я лично видел , что он вытворяет .

It's going to be very difficult to hit a target,with a machine gun, at a distance when the boat you are shooting from is bobbing up and down in the water and the target is doing it also.

When you are referring to geographic distance, the proper word is “farther”, not further (measure). LCdr F.B. Marano, USNA class of 1975.

It's all good until people start getting sniped, RPGed, suppressed, etc. The boat should be remote controlled if needed so everyone can duck without having to look and get headshotted.

Those had to be blanks fired from the boats in the river because some of the camera angles are near the crossfires and they’re aiming indiscriminately
@darrinlong5007

Per Article 114 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice: The use of blank ammunition is not permitted neither authorized for use on a vessel whose designation is such that a situational cause for pursuit is imminent.
