What I like about his lectures are the fact that he explains the history and concepts of all these areas in maths and I believe that’s fundamental for understanding why and when we use these concepts rather than just solving questions to pass

Somto Madueke agreed. Giving an historical background of the topic really helps the students get a basic idea how it all begun and thus they are able to relate mathematics to the physical world.

My college professor treated calculus exactly the way Mr. Woo said not to: The first day of class he directed our attention to a table of 200 formulas in the back of our text book that had to be memorized. I think my grades would have been much better if Mr. Woo had been teaching the class.

Thank you SO much, Professor Woo. Thank you for teaching the history and the theory and putting it into language we can understand and relate to. We need more teachers like you, I never understood Calculus or even the point of it, despite taking it in high school. My teachers never impressed uppn me the beauty, simplicity, and imagination of the concept like you just dod.
@harikrishnanp90995 років тому
sir, you have an unique way of teaching. You make the concept very simple.. Thank you.. I watched many videos on calculus, but this is the best.

I'm starting to learn caulculus on my own, it's been roughly 2 years since I've studied anything formally, and I want to approach this as a way of distraction that isn't videogames and the hub, and also to learn something different that isn't songs on the guitar... Wish me luck!

You truly have a gnack for making things engaging. I had never really liked maths as a child, yet through you and similar channels (such as Numberphile) I have grown to beyond enjoy the subject. So thank you very much for all your work! We need more people like you!

Ty you for teaching this sir. I love that you make sure we actually understand the concept instead of just telling us how to do things. I got a 100 on my first calculus test and I owe a lot to you. Thank you sir.

I'm at uni now and I wished I paid more attention in maths class and asked more questions. If I knew how much I needed maths in the future I'd have not wasted so much time on frivolous things. The good thing is I've found somebody as talented as Eddie to teach me again.

Beautiful work!! To find where the function x^x turns over (minimum) differentiate x^x and set equal to zero, you get e^-1 or 0.36788 which is pretty close to the 0.4 seen in your table.

10:00 m is because this gradient for a line was originally called "modulus of slope" much like your The Calculus from earlier!
@carultch2 роки тому
Thanks. I've always wondered why of all possible letters, we use the letter m. I could understand s for slope, or r for rate, or even c or k for constant or konstant. But I could not figure out where m came from. Any idea where b comes from for y-intercept? My guess is it comes from the point-slope form, where the equation is written as (y - b) = m*(x-a), in the special case that b is selected so that a=0.
