I turned the “conversation awareness” off almost immediately. Started singing along and it dropped the music - no, I do not want to hear my awful voice, thank you! 😂

Hopefully Apple will figure out a way to intelligently map “conversation audio” vs “trying to sing along to a track audio” because it’s not ideal to have conversation awareness on 100% of the time even though the feature is so helpful

I love the straightforward approach. No bullshit B-roll, subscribe animations, and stuff like that. Very nice. I lost both my AirPods (forgot them in a hotel) and just bought a new pair yesterday, after upgrading to iOS17, It had more features, so I searched on UKposts for recent changes :) I thought I bought a newer version I had never heard of. Turns out I lost them on iOS16 and bought new ones on iOS17 :) Thank you!

The Adaptive mode is super cool, I already loved transparency mode and adaptive mode is even better.

It’s a great feature as when you are having a conversation it will turn the volume right down automatically so that when you are talking you can hear yourself more and not just the person your talking to

I used adaptive mode at the gym. It kept surrounding sounds way too loud. I could hear both the song I played and the song they played in the gym. I quickly switched back to good old noise cancelling.

Comparing it to Sony, I have the original link buds to use at work because they're basically open back, so I can talk naturally with them on when I have to answer a phone or radio: Does the conversation mode engage every time you clear your throat, no matter how lightly you do it? And can it distinguish the difference between ambient noise and a slight breeze? 2 problems the link buds have. I can't even use auto volume outside, because a brisk walk will go full volume from wind on the mic hole. I'm also curious how reliable the mics are, because my original APP's couldn't do transparency after a year. It's a very faint difference when turning it on, cleaning the mics helped marginally, and they're placed right where you have to handle the buds, so they're always picking up grime and oils. I'm still on the fence about getting new ones, since most of the features rely on the mics.

Thanks for this. I turned on the option to automatically lower volume when I speak, which seems like a great idea but was maddening when singing to a good song. Typing AirPods in search settings didn’t pull up these options. I didn’t realize it was right on top.

Adaptive is so great for office use. Listening to relaxing music while still maintaining awareness and being able to respond to a conversation. Brilliant.

The adaptive audio works just the same as having it set to off when i am at the gym and i normally switch to adaptive to talk with people and then switch back to noise cancellation

Bought my AirPods yesterday and already got an update, the new adaptive feature is really nice tbh, I can talk with people while not hearing parasite sounds.

These features are awesome I just wish Apple would make it easier to update the AirPods.

Dog walking mode would also be nice, when I give commands to my dog like wait or sit or who's a good boy or scratchy scratchy, the volume also lowers for 10 or 20 seconds.

I have noticed since the recent Airpods Pro 2nd gen update when I first insert my airpods the phone would reduce the volume to very low and not adjust it back up

😱 how much do we need to keep up and keep updating ourselves to use these devices. I have a Jabra elite 85t it’s great and will update if Apple can come with one cohesive upgrade so I don’t need to update for each device

On the pro 2 human voice, ambulance and police noice goes through even in noice cancellation mode. Only one usefull feature is to make music level down when you start speaking, so you can continue conversation

there is a ios 17 bug where you cant slide the volume bar as close to the bottom before as possible without the audio glitching out and turning completely off

adaptive noise control sounds the same as transparency for me :( I thought it be block out the annoying commercial refrigerator sound but it doesnt even block out the small desk fan next to me

awareness is a great idea with the exception if you're listening to a book or podcast, when it lowers the volume for you to talk to someone the program you were listening to keeps progressing. So when you stop talking you have to back up what you are playing so that you can hear what you missed

My AirPods Pro one no longer gives me the noise cancellation that I used to enjoy. I know this because I go to the gym all the time and the noise cancellation always drowned out the music in the background. Now it doesn't do a very good job at noise cancellation at all. I wonder if the update downgraded the noise cancellation, so that we can buy new headphones
