Its not weird, its a lie. Iran wants war with Israel and they have been attacking Israel with their proxies for ages. The Iranian regime doesn't want a DIRECT war with Israel because then they will suffer personally and most likely die, but they had to respond because they look way too weak too all their supporters that believe their rhetoric of destroying Israel and they look weak to their proxies which are starting to feel like they are doing all the work while the Iranian regime itself is afraid of direct confrontation. Israel doesn't want war because they have no ambition to take over Iran nor any interest in having war with Iran, but at the same time Israel does consider attacks through proxies a war with Iran already because Iran is sending its assassins (proxies) after Israel and fighting the proxies does not solve the root problem which is the Islamic regime of Iran that is determined to bring about the destruction of Israel, and continues to fund, arm, and direct more and more groups against Israel.

As a ex Muslim & scholar of middle East history I conclude that the region had more peace Pre islam time frame than after the invention of islam. Conflicts where never on this scale it was largely regional & stopped at borders, even empire's from ur, Sumeria to Hittites etc all accepted local beliefs & blended these beliefs in to secure the ppl's support. There was no convert or die , till Abraham it was his concept of a country that got Jews to battle with other surrounding areas to take their wealth because of resources scarcity. Mohammed emulated that same attitude. Modern Israel is very far from that orthodox Judaism in fact modern Jews clash with orthodox Jews it's time islam also gave latitude towards modernizing, moderation & co existence.

Conflicts were not on that scale because populations were not on our scale .... but the wars between the regions and empires were still equally violent in relativity to technology at the time. You probably have a better understanding of dates and time scales between wars but I feel it's a bit of a down play to say violence in the pre Islamic era wasn't as consistent
