How is it possible for everyone to be stacking gold unless there is a never ending supply. More miners coming online as the prices are anticipated to go up. How much gold is there? (Infinite supply if you dig enough)

The whole idea of digging endlessly for gold is that it has to be profitable. Is it profitable at present day values? not even close. Do you think the energies that are needed to do the digging will get cheaper or more available with time and ESG standards? absolutely not. You are thinking linearly for an issue that is way more complicated than you present.

You would still have to trust the country holding the gold to release upon redemption. Key word being trust. Ask France how that worked out in 1971

Physical gold is great but people usually don’t talk about the negative aspects of it: 1) you have to store it either in a bank safe deposit or at home (with all the risks attached to it) and it’s not easily movable. 2) when you want to sell it to your bank, they can refuse to buy it because of money laundering reasons (your bank doesn’t know what you do with your gold while in a safe deposit).
